Kin' hell, some people just can't help themselves. The victim isn't even cold yet and some clowns on here and elsewhere are using his murder to score political points! They couldn't even leave it for a day.........
Indeed . A member of parliament from a legitimate mainstream political party has been murdered, it’s an extremely troubling and sad day .

But you’re also insinuating a cover up “the msm aren’t reporting it” etc.

Do you think this will be the last we hear of it, and it will all just be swept under the carpet?
Ive no idea. I’m just commenting on the different levels of immediate media disclosure for 2 not dissimilar events.

Aside from the name of the suspect and potential motivation - basically everything then .

the Guardian article into Amess' murder says:

Counter-terrorism police have taken over the investigation into the killing of the Conservative MP David Amess, who died after being stabbed several times at an open advice surgery for his constituents in Essex.

The death of the 69-year-old veteran backbencher brought heartfelt tributes from all parties. Just five years after the murder of Jo Cox, it also prompted renewed worries about the security risks for MPs in an increasingly rancorous and polarised political era.

A 25-year-old man was in custody. One urgent avenue for detectives is whether he was known to the authorities through the Prevent programme, which monitors people suspected of having connections to extremist views or terrorism. Police said a man had been arrested on suspicion of murder, and that officers were not looking for anyone else.

the Guardian article into Cox's murder said:

The Labour MP Jo Cox has died after being shot and stabbed multiple times following a constituency meeting. Armed officers responded to the attack near a library in Birstall, West Yorkshire, on Thursday afternoon. A 52-year-old man was arrested in the area, police confirmed. The suspect was named locally as Tommy Mair.

Police added that Cox, 41, the MP for Batley and Spen, had suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at 1.48pm on Thursday by a doctor with paramedics at the scene.

Police confirmed that a man in his late 40s to early 50s nearby suffered slight injuries in the incident. They are also investigating reports that the suspect shouted “Britain first”, a possible reference to the far-right political party of that name, as he launched the attack. Police are understood to be talking to at least one witness who claimed to have heard the attacker shout the words, and the motivation for the incident will form part of their inquiry.

They are broadly similar articles, with the exception of a reported comment from an eyewitness and an unofficial report of the suspect's name in the Cox case. Both articles mention the age of the suspect, the possible political motivation (and that police were going to investigate that) and the act itself.

Not in the slightest but you carry on

I think we can all agree.

In a supposed civilised liberal democracy , regardless of one's own political views, and I consider myself a social democrat, killing a political opponent is not acceptable.

What if they were Hitler or Stalin?

To add an additional later: in a civilised, liberal democracy, murdering anyone is not acceptable.

Mentioning the exceptions rather than the rule is not going to win an argument.

you do realise we can all read what the articles actually say, right?
They’ve put the picture of Mair, his political leanings, his alleged language prior to the murder all within a few hours of her death.

the incident today is a virtual wall of silence. No political motivation has been disclosed either.
