We don't take their word as verbatim as we obviously understand there's other motivations on their comments. That's why you don't "listen" to people regardless of context because of their skin colour or background; you take views on board with context instead.

TBF I’m not sure I’ve ever dismissed their experiences in that respect (or that many other people on here have). You kind of did say that though, in post #8305.

What does cause them to be doubted is what they actually do; I mean if you or I had survived the Titanic I’d like to think we wouldn’t go around removing lifeboats from other ships.

Lifeboats are just a gesture, throw them all away as we'll only have truly saved people when the hole gets fixed in the ship. Obviously, if you swim down to try and fix the hole you're causing division too.

In relation to anti-racism, that's assuming taking the knee is zero sum game, the only show in town. You can be against the knee and against racism at the same time - I am. It's not the only "lifeboat".

Well, I understand the purpose of a lifeboat is to save lives, so I'm the one recommending lifeboats that work instead of ones that are already "stabbed".

It's called "Take A Stand". It has less baggage, does its' one job well, the passengers aren't a free lunch for great white (racist) sharks. If the sharks still attack it they'll end up just slamming their heads into it and looking like idiots.

I don't know mate, you tell me given you think only type of boat can exist, any criticism of that boat is ridiculous and we should listen to the makers of that boat and that one boat alone, regardless of how many holes it has in it.
