Yeah and I’m sure they’d have exactly the same view if they lost their job when furlough ends next week and they have to wait 5 weeks for their UC claim to be processed. Was listening to Radio 2 earlier, can't remember the name of the programme, but some of the callers in, christ. Fuming at the possibility of kids getting fed. Apparently its up to parents to make the right lifestyle choices. Well, yes, of course, but on the other hand, all you are doing is punishing a kid with an idiot parent in such instances. Also seem to forget there's a lot of people going to be out of work and struggling soon. One less meal to worry about can make a huge difference to the stress levels of a struggling family. Some proper mean spirited folk out there.
As if to emphasise the point : Scum
It's mad, you sit there and wonder who could possibly be against it, but thanks to social media we know it's angry old men. It's like a competition to be the biggest scumlord/commoner.

Yep, ignore the billions of pounds funnelled to family and friends of ministers for no return, spaffing billions aots with no accountability - fine. It's mad, you sit there and wonder who could possibly be against it, but thanks to social media we know it's angry old men.
Another Tory redefining 'context'.

Not really a topic I've followed in any depth, but the Tory argument seems to be that they have raised universal credit or welfare in some way, and therefore regard that as being sufficient for parents to feed their children rather than relying on school freebies. The argument on the radio (4) from opponents to this seemed to be that parents couldn't be trusted to spend that money wisely and the only solution was to give food directly to the children. Indeed, one guy said this was required because the youngster was taking a bit extra to feed his siblings.
All a bit bonkers, but for those of you who follow these matters closely, has welfare risen during the pandemic?
