"we've done this thing so this other thing you are complaining about isn't really happening" is almost a Tory trope at this point

That Radio 4 show sounds horrific though, like some form of 1830s chat between Whig and Tory over how the lower orders eat their children.

From what I recall it featured people who supported free school meals. As I said, the Tory argument seems to be (I'm making up the figures), we give people £20 a week extra in benefits since Covid, so don't need to give them free school meals. I have no idea whether that's true, hence why I asked, as it seems like the argument isn't about people getting extra help or not (if the Tories are to be believed) but whether parents have the freedom to spend it how they wish or whether they're given food instead.

That's my impression of the argument, but I have no idea whether that reflects reality, hence my query.

Enough of this @Bruce Wayne

Pick a side: disgusted or 'out of context'.

(I'd be interest in the answer as well)

IIRC non income related benefits had a very modest uptick in Feb; my impression was its the normal annual thing. Will confirm next Feb if thats the case.

But neither PIP nor carers allowance have been increased cos of Covid.

'up to £20'.

Interesting the bit about 'further calls for change' which largely seem unaddressed.

I know the 'no recourse to public funds', saving cut off and '5 week wait' have been routinely flagged as high risk, by charities and LA, as part of the strategic response to Covid.

Aye, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if various hoops weren't put in place. Just curious is all. Also curious what parents do on the weekend if their children are starving for lack of free school meals during the week, do they fast at the weekend? Do schools provide free meals at weekend as well?

What a great protest that was outside a Tory Conservative Association. The shameless scum.
