I suspect that the public will accept any constitutional debasement, distasteful policy or disreputable behaviour so long as they believe Brexit will be delivered or the UK have 'won' the battle with the EU.

As I asked another poster, just name any successes or anything he has delivered....I have said nothing about misleading Rudd, you must have read that elsewhere, and the guy that was at the HO before him was none other than Mark Sedwill the current head of the CS, so which one should be sacked in your opinion....

Pete he’s been a civil servant for 33 years, and for most of that time there’s been a Tory government. Now I agree there hasn’t been many triumphs in that time, so I welcome this discovery of yours, but I’d rather it had come from some other source.

I have no time for people who don’t do what they said they would. The CS don’t really care who is in government, red or blue, they just do what they damn well please and if they screw it up just get on the merry go round and take up a job in a different dept and do exactly the same again. It’s about time that the CS faced accountability, which every other job, including politicians face. I honestly don’t give a damn about who is in power or that Patel is in charge, my whole professional life has been about delivering and getting shut of wasters like this guy, that’s why I’m upset, nothing political, just professional.....

You only know about him because the papers you read have slated him though - and they only slated him because they were asked to do so by the Government.

Pete the then Home Secretary was told, in person and to her face, what her policy was going to do to people before she implemented it. She ignored it, and when people found out she - shamefully - put Rudd up as a sacrifice to save her own neck.
