Looking for savings and playing devils advocate, benefits are always popular go to for Tories. With exceptions. Would be looking at the retired boomers with their triple locks and add ons. As its just something that's been discussed at work (social services).

Attendance allowance does not have the same check and balances as working age benefits. You can literally qualify waiting for hip replacement caterarct removal have these procedures completed and no longer qualify.

There is no check reassement by DWP if the attendance allowance is still required. Just a note, that claimant should notify changes. Working age benefits including PIP are very difficult to attain with regular reviews.

Emphasis is lower attendance allowancerate £68.10 per week. Higher rate normally means person has had life channging care needs that require support. Just believe there is an inherent bias in welfare system all of a sudden once you hit retirement age you become a honest broker. Far from it. As Peter Bone can testify...

Agree there are many other ways to raise revenue.
Maybe those requiring benefits and financial support should be looked at to see if there a ways to increase their allowances. A country relying on food banks to feed its less well off is failing in its basic duties.

The fact that Labour are pretty much the electoral equivalent of dry porridge oats and yet the Tories STILL keep losing shows just how disliked they are at the moment

Most normal properly functioning political parties might take that as a sign to maybe change things up and be less disagreeable, but I somehow think the Tories won't get that message and will think the answer to this is to be even more horrible

Benefit caps which include rent is major issue although my area is not as affected like Cheshire or Surrey for now anyway!
Getting people on benefits and timely manner is the issue. Just now dealing with some one whose brother was diagnosed with cancer in May applied for PIP, died in Septemeber and got a letter Monday wanting to know if surving brother want to claim that period their poor brother never saw penny of support at 54... Truly appalling as they procrastinated over the evidence. Will pm you redacted letter later as I know some here doubt my work role.

National Conservatism will be far easier to defeat than that article implies - its a concept that is imposed from the top by the people who bear personal responsibility for a lot of the problems they cite.

It has no genuine support, as all the effort to establish media and PR systems to support it should show.

All that has to happen is for people to firstly point out the guilty are behind this, and secondly to do effective things to deal with the problems they’ve caused.
And yet Trump looks very likely to win the election this year.

It's the Rishession!

Just do this poster Labour:

The economy. Small boats. NHS Waiting lists.

Whatever the "plan" is, it isn't working.

Let's get back to square one.
I think the plan is working perfectly.

Rishi is an absolutely shameless face for corruption, corporate greed and the punching down on normal people.

Just look at the way he sneers at the idea of knowing working class people, as does his father, who loved the comment.

Idiotic Hunt!

Just as a reminder, this strategy is no surprise. It’s not to try to win the upcoming election, or to effect any positive change, it’s purely to hamstring an incoming government with crippled finances. The intention is to screw the country for 5 more years in their absence, purely so they can get into power again. The Tories have no ideology other than to be in Government at any cost. They know this one has gone, so are already planning for the next.

I think this a reaction to the incoming public sector cuts and tax giveaways the Tories are planning.

In the next budget, the Tories will do a big tax cut, funded by public sector cuts, leaving a Labour Government in the position of either having to borrow, raise taxes or accept decimated public services, all of which they’ll then be attacked for.

The Tories know they’re done for, so the strategy is to tie Labour down fiscally, and attack them on that basis.

The Tory's strategy to try and 'close the gap' is absolutely laughable, just regurgitate over and over the lie that 'Labour has no plan' to try and deflect from the fact that they've got no plan themselves! I hope they continue with this strategy in the lead up to the GE, the general population are pretty stupid but the impact of the Cost of Living and the increase in utility bills + 100s of other issues caused by this greedy corrupt government will mean most level headed people will see right through the BS. The best thing Starmer can do at the minute is avoid being dragged into a 'culture war' which i believe he's trying his best to avoid atm.
