Could actually check attendance allowance. Know fair few people claiming while waiting for treatment pretty sure some have not informed DWP they are now back to full health and no longer in need of it. In fact I've never known a face to face interview for it, if the application is accepted its just paid.
Crack down on benefits cheats claiming attendance allowance!? For those that don’t know Attendance allowance is a disability benefit for those over state pension age who require some form of care. Basically PIP for pensioners. I’d take a guess that it is probably one of the most under claimed benefits in the U.K. as people who’ve not been in the benefits system don’t know about it. Yet this boy wants to crack down on it as some form of public spending cut.
You’re about as left wing as Max Mosley.

Thanks for this eye opener.

It’s very much under claimed.

Worked with plenty of people playing the system. Not many pensioners who had made a miraculous recovery from illness mind you.

Looking for savings and playing devils advocate, benefits are always popular go to for Tories. With exceptions. Would be looking at the retired boomers with their triple locks and add ons. As its just something that's been discussed at work (social services).

Attendance allowance does not have the same check and balances as working age benefits. You can literally qualify waiting for hip replacement caterarct removal have these procedures completed and no longer qualify.

There is no check reassement by DWP if the attendance allowance is still required. Just a note, that claimant should notify changes. Working age benefits including PIP are very difficult to attain with regular reviews.

Emphasis is lower attendance allowancerate £68.10 per week. Higher rate normally means person has had life channging care needs that require support. Just believe there is an inherent bias in welfare system all of a sudden once you hit retirement age you become a honest broker. Far from it. As Peter Bone can testify...

Agree there are many other ways to raise revenue.

In the 1980s Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher built a new conservatism around markets and freedom. Today Donald Trump, Viktor Orban and a motley crew of Western politicians have demolished that orthodoxy, constructing in its place a statist, “anti-woke” conservatism that puts national sovereignty before the individual. These national conservatives are increasingly part of a global movement with its own networks of thinkers and leaders bound by a common ideology. They sense that they own conservatism now—and they may be right.

Despite its name, national conservatism could not be more different from the ideas of Reagan and Thatcher. Rather than being sceptical of big government, national conservatives think ordinary people are beset by impersonal global forces and that the state is their saviour. Unlike Reagan and Thatcher, they hate pooling sovereignty in multilateral organisations, they suspect free markets of being rigged by the elites and they are hostile to migration. They despise pluralism, especially the multicultural sort. National conservatives are obsessed with dismantling institutions they think are tainted by wokeness and globalism.

National Conservatism will be far easier to defeat than that article implies - its a concept that is imposed from the top by the people who bear personal responsibility for a lot of the problems they cite.

It has no genuine support, as all the effort to establish media and PR systems to support it should show.

All that has to happen is for people to firstly point out the guilty are behind this, and secondly to do effective things to deal with the problems they’ve caused.

Nothing in the elections last night to really worry Labour, yes reform and others took some percentage points off Conservative Party, still not enough pooled together to defeat Labour... Incumbents governments whoever they are in degrees of trouble depending on performance, our lot have proper problem's as we are seeing.

Another month of the media focusing in on ‘conservative mp’s revolt against pm’ type stories’.

They have close to zero chance of winning an election. Make it stop. Get an election called in May and move on from a painful five years.
