A TORY MP who previously demanded the names of academics teaching about European affairs for a book he was writing has admitted "there isn't a book".

Chris Heaton-Harris, a fanatical Brexiteer, asked vice-chancellors in 2017 to send him details of any courses that may be teaching about Brexit, as well as the names of lecturers.

Jo Johnson, who was Education Secretary at the time, claimed that the request was part of research for a book that Heaton-Harris was working on.

It's for a book - his little black book of people he dreams of having up against a wall.

A Conservative MP has been charged with making false claims for parliamentary expenses. The Crown Prosecution Service said Christopher Davies, the MP for Brecon and Radnor, is accused of two counts of making a false instrument and one of providing false or misleading information in relation to allowance claims

20 years ago a first class stamp was 24p

10 years ago it was 28p, so Labour had increased it by 4p in those 10 years.

A first class stamp is going to cost Joe Public 70p next month, a price increase of nearly x3 in the last 10 years.

Can anyone tell what's happened in the last 10 years to make Royal Mail increase these prices by extortionate amounts?

Folk dont write many letters these days. Companies use other carriers for their mail. Its a very competitive field, and the Post Office also has a heavily unionised workforce with very generous working conditions, compared to their competitors.

What are the prices like in other countries? That's probably the best form of comparison.

What the frig has that got to do with the price increase being 3 fold after the Tories sold it off?, how the hell can you defend those type of price rises, since the invention of the internet the Royal mail has been making money hand over fist, there was never any need to privatise it, it's profits were growing and growing due to internet shopping.

It's a classic case of what privatisation does to a once publicly owned company, it becomes about profits for shareholders, and bonuses for the fat cats at the top.

And the poor and working classes pay for it all by paying more for the services.

Where did I defend it? You asked why, and I suggested some reasons.

You should be ashamed of yourself for even trying to defend it Bruce, what the heck has the price of mail in other countries got to do with it?

I'm not trying to defend anything, I'm trying to understand. You asked a question to which I don't know the answer. Roydo, who works in this industry, provided his insights, I merely asked what prices were doing in other countries (which may have different ways of delivering mail than we do). If you don't know the answer you only have to say.
