I think we're done for TBH - such hatred runs through this country and I don't think it will ever be repaired.

Going to be even worse with increased inflation now eating into public spending, monies public service did have is not going as far originally intended, nowhere near.

Housing is a huge issue affordability wise, something like 8.8 times average earnings now its more than doubled since the 1970s, the average house back then £9,277 the equivalent of £68,493 today...
Agreed. The choices that this government have made over the last 13 years will be felt for decades to come.

The deeper problems caused by long term austerity such as a declining birth rate have not affected us yet. In 2012 there were 729k births, but in 2022 that number stood at 605k i.e. a 17% drop. This may not sound that alarming, but as an example, China is about to have more pensioners than it does people in its workforce, how can this be sustained? How are public services going to be paid for? By increasing tax for the people who do work? It won't be the rich that fills the shortfall.

People are living longer, people are choosing not to have families because it's an unaffordable luxury. Mothers are choosing not to work because it's not cost effective vs child care costs. This is creating a perfect storm of less people taking on the tax burden. Our taxes will rise to cover pensions etc. which will further exaserbate the problems just covered.

This is a common issue all over the globe where leaders have prioritised short term growth and greed at the expense of future generations. South Korea is in an even worse position.

I made this comment on another thread, but the average sold prices of all properties (i.e. including flats) in Wavertree this year was £180k, which is sickening. I naively thought that by coming back from London to Wirral/Liverpool area it would allow me to live with more prosperity. Driving through West Kirby and Hoylake yesterday just confirmed my fears that Wirral and Liverpool are being gentrified at a blurring pace and it will cause huge issues on our doorstep.

The cost of living crisis has only just begun.

I have the feeling I’ll never be able to fully retire unless struck off due to health grounds. Think this is the same for many people in my generation.

I never thought I’d go back to being a builder. This week absolutely wrote me off. I felt like a different person for a few days. I’m looking in to exoskeletons so I can alleviate some of the strain.

One positive is I have a lot more control over how I pay tax. I will be doing what’s right for myself in this late stage capitalist dystopian world.

If Boris is the answer they were always doomed.
boris "literally bursting with spunk" johnson? Where's the tory agonising over cameron walking his self imposed plank? or may being shafted by spunky pants johnson? or truss doing herself over? why the love for the oft ancient greek quoting 'Sifillis' or whatever heroic tragedy figure spring to mind that minute?

the self flagellation over the promises of 'sunlit uplands' is quite frankly very very sick.
