Sunak cancels Greek PM meeting in Parthenon Sculptures row
Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who wants the Parthenon Sculptures returned, says he is "deeply disappointed".www.bbc.com
Britain in a nutshell: the Tories robbing other nations, and Labour piously agreeing to loan back what is not their own. Incredible.
Ah, Pete. I was expecting you. They were acquired legally, purchased and no court of law would declare otherwise. They were not ‘robbed’ and it it is this woolly headed thinking that disgraces the country……
Who do you think he is, Vishnu?Ah, Pete. I was expecting you.
Give back what is not yours.

Even if you were correct, which I dispute, why would you not want the museum to be able to show other Greek treasures from time to time?
This could have some legs like...This is the mad thing for me, it seems like it's an absolute win-win to hand them back, and that retaining them in the BM is only really pleasing the little Englanders who miss the notion we can just take stuff from the rest of the world (whether it's an Imperial possession or not) to take and show off in London. The idea of having to give back what was taken is an anathema to the idea we can still just bully these smaller states around.
The modern Acropolis museum has a series of replicas of all the marbles, so just trade those with the real thing and display those in London. Existing displays thus unaffected. Then take advantage of the offer to display some never-before-seen artefacts in a revolving annual display for the next 20 years or whatever. Also, gain international goodwill by 'doing the right thing' and repatriating some of the world's most famous artefacts to their home.
As I say, win-win. Instead the Tories jealously grasp them and take a "No! These are ours and we acquired them LEGALLY and nothing else matters" attitude. Majority of the British public don't even care about it, what percentage of the population even go to the British Museum, let alone care if one specific set of stones is in it? Polling consistently shows support for giving them back, but the Tory mindset just cannot deal with the sense of losing prestige.
More reasoned political insight from you I see, or maybe you are just an idiot with nothing to say……

I am intrigued by people that vote Tory and it must be due to your livelihood improving due to them being in power, maybe.
What have they done in the last 13 years that has made yours or your families lives better?
I literally said what I said. Imagine going and voting for Boris Johnson then wondering why the UK is in such a state. Convince me that voting tory was the correct call, I'll wait.
