Sorry guys, I have no intention of defending the politicians until we know the full story from everyone. It just appears to me from my own professional experience that Vallance is attempting to absolve himself of any blame by shuffling it onto anyone other than himself. If he could have said something and didn’t during this period of time then he’s a moral and scientific coward. Honestly no political defence, just professional opinion…….
I take your points, but absolving the blame from what exactly? Again Sage are not the politicians making policy. It's the responsibility of Johnson and his cabinet to effect change during this time.

An example of this would be the Sage recommendation to lockdown earlier than we did in March 2020. Johnson and the government dithered and delayed for a week and that was catastrophic. That's the only example I can give you because I'm not really following this. But I'm certain they'll be others.

Now I take your point of were Sage strong enough in their suggestions and we don't know this yet, but we do already know where there is blame and that's squarely at the feet of BJ.

The call to send the infected back into the care homes has to come to the fore. That decision on it's own is the huge one for me.

Dreadful call, that. Not even in hindsight. One of Hancock's big plays, but on who's advice? Do we know?
It's the one I'm waiting on. And it looks like it could be on the cards within about 3 weeks. They'll know this, so I wonder if they'll throw one another under the bus or play the 'we made the decisions at the time in good faith', judging in 'retrospect isn't fair' ...etc

I'm also rather keen on the covid fast track access business lanes. Who owns who in the chain of these ppe contractors for instance, who's responsible for that test n trace app we've all still never seen.

Would you save your career at the expense of lives, our politicians would, but I would expect better from a CSO, I know what I would have done…….
He was fighting the tide of stupidity he was surrounded with. It'll turn out he was a mitigating factor and did all he could. Resigning and going back to his family with no job and a potential gagging order probably wasn't in his thinking. The reason sunak and johnson were talking tough about letting people die was because of the scientists in their ear projecting that distinct possibility, otherwise johnson would have been injected live on tv to prove how much of a nothing the virus is and he'd have been huffing and puffing his way through events like knobhead trump was once infected.

the cu...pricks that were inconvenienced by the virus had no care or attention to those knocked down and killed by it, it was a political grandstand to exploit. sunak and johnson are tarred with the same brush. et tu brutus that!

Thats the politics. Vallance was on the TV most nights, if he’d said what he truly believed, on air, live, then tens of millions would have supported him. Indeed he would probably have made millions of pounds via the media. Blame BJ and Sunak by all means and I’m sure we‘ll find out, but I find this guys sloping shoulders reprehensible, letting down the people of this country, his profession and his personal credibility…but I've made my point and will say no more about him……

Rubbish, if he'd laid it on that the chuckle brothers were running the show, distancing would have been done with and every care home stripped by the families. And then the 'letting down the country'.... bit rich that mr!

cameron - fixing the roof whilst the sun shines. Let down the country.
may - windrush. Jail her. Let down the country.
johnson - 350 million a week, injected live, sex predators support me, covid fraud. Finished. Let down the country repeatedly.
truss - borrow for tax cuts. promoted far beyond her capabilities. Let the country down.
sunak - the boats and braverman. Let the country down.

There's five for your special brand of accountability.... (I'll not hold my breath)

Wait to lay blame at the feet of BJ, but happily condemn this man?

Sure sure.

I get you. If you are planning on applying for PIP would always advise to apply and request the application forms as soon as possible as the first payment gets backdated to your initial contact especially if you have an appointment for diagnosis in a couple of weeks. Not sure how long it will take to get an assessment

I remember aye. I guess face to face assessments were suspended then. I’d imagine that isn’t the case anymore. The process can be pretty traumatic and invasive for some
This is partly why I’ve been delaying starting the process. When I had my life changing injury I was incapacitated and off work for 2 years. I applied for Employee Support Allowance (ESA) but was awarded 0 points. Basically, “you’ve got debilitating hearing issues, but you can still work”. At the time even a gust of wind would cause me pain in my ears.

Ironically, it was my ex employer’s private health insurance (AXA PPP) which got me out of the mire. Their service was impeccable and I had several MRI scans, CAT scans, physio etc. all within weeks jumping the queue of NHS patients. If I’d waited for NHS there’s no way I’d be in the place I am now.

With all this in mind I want to give them as little reason as possible to reject me. I have been advised on how to describe my conditions etc. and it’s going to be very mentally taxing. I’m going to do a deep dive and go through everything. I only want to do that once, and I’d rather have the ASD diagnosis, as this is around a 75% chance of being accepted, and I want as much ‘free’ money as possible from the system I’ve paid in to my whole life.

I am aware that this is exactly how they designed it, the crooks.

It would have helped if Johnson was at least mildly interested in Covid at the beginning, how many Cobra meetings did he miss, wasn't interested to bother to go, that tells a story initself. All Johnson was interested in was Brexit and it costs lives, Italy warned us/ showed us what was going to happen, to me our Government scoffed at this, Airports were left open, I know myself/ family/ friends were shocked at this part alone. He was the worst leader we could have had at the time, always had the reputation for being lazy and arrogant and since then, the parties, indecision, I mean " Can you use a hairdryer? Reminds of drink bleach. Johnson and Trump luckily they are both gone, 2 peas in a pod.

He was the worst leader we could have had at the time,

Come on, be fair. The crisis just "didn't match his skill set" or whatever we heard last week. If instead of Covid, a spaceship full of female aliens had arrived, who all desperately needed impregnating to save their species or they'd blow the planet up, then 'Boris' would right now be polishing his gong for services to humanity.
