He was fighting the tide of stupidity he was surrounded with. It'll turn out he was a mitigating factor and did all he could. Resigning and going back to his family with no job and a potential gagging order probably wasn't in his thinking. The reason sunak and johnson were talking tough about letting people die was because of the scientists in their ear projecting that distinct possibility, otherwise johnson would have been injected live on tv to prove how much of a nothing the virus is and he'd have been huffing and puffing his way through events like knobhead trump was once infected.

the cu...pricks that were inconvenienced by the virus had no care or attention to those knocked down and killed by it, it was a political grandstand to exploit. sunak and johnson are tarred with the same brush. et tu brutus that!
Tbf I don't think Vallance was ever going to be struggling for work if he resigned.

I rather think he stayed in an attempt to mitigate the madness. Pete is being Pete here. Rather than acknowledge the point the tools he gleefully voted in are once again found woefully inadequate, he creates a strawman argument based on an imaginary moral position he'd never be in.

This is partly why I’ve been delaying starting the process. When I had my life changing injury I was incapacitated and off work for 2 years. I applied for Employee Support Allowance (ESA) but was awarded 0 points. Basically, “you’ve got debilitating hearing issues, but you can still work”. At the time even a gust of wind would cause me pain in my ears.

Ironically, it was my ex employer’s private health insurance (AXA PPP) which got me out of the mire. Their service was impeccable and I had several MRI scans, CAT scans, physio etc. all within weeks jumping the queue of NHS patients. If I’d waited for NHS there’s no way I’d be in the place I am now.

With all this in mind I want to give them as little reason as possible to reject me. I have been advised on how to describe my conditions etc. and it’s going to be very mentally taxing. I’m going to do a deep dive and go through everything. I only want to do that once, and I’d rather have the ASD diagnosis, as this is around a 75% chance of being accepted, and I want as much ‘free’ money as possible from the system I’ve paid in to my whole life.

I am aware that this is exactly how they designed it, the crooks.

Having had to go through a PIP application for our daughter the best advice given to us was that when filling in the forms describe your worst day not your best. Good luck, fortunately to date we have been treated fairly reasonably by those overseeing her application.

generally the ordinary staff in DWP are decent people but as an organisation i believe DWP to be utterly evil, under direction from the tory party. unfortunately i don't expect this to improve much under labour.

They've even managed to lose the Young Conservatives.

It's not quite that simple. They're specifically talking about themselves, the 'Young Conservative Network', an organisation designed to help Young Conservatives... network. And reading between the lines I get the sense that they're one of those pro-Johnson groups that can't be bothered with the party now (in the same way that lots of Labour activists melted away post-Corbyn. Whatever your thoughts on him, he enthused certain parts of the membership). They cite the disconnect between members and the party, this is the same sort of line that 'Lord' Cruddas barfs up every other week when he makes his case that Johnson was unfairly kicked out and should be brought back ASAP (and then they mention the removal of elected party leaders, another swipe at Sunak).

I'm not even sure what use a 'Young Conservatives Network' even is, anyway. I've got no idea who would want to be a 'Young Conservative', not unless their name was Tarquin or Felicity etc, in which case they can already just network through their family, or school.

If you don't have those connections in place then you'll never be one of them, really.

Stick your tax cuts up your arse, Jeremy Hunt.

My local council is about to go bust, because the previous Tory administration refused to raise council tax for six years during £200m of austerity cuts. Any tax cut you offer now will be more than sucked up by the coming increases.

Everything is broken. The roads are crumbling, half the streetlights don't work. Everywhere is overgrown. There are hardly any buses anymore. You can't get a doctor's appointment unless you're dying. Schools are falling to bits. Social services are overrun.

Try fixing some of the stuff you've vandalised, instead of trying to bribe the electorate prior to your downfall.

The PIP assessments used to be outsourced to private companies and are/were target driven. Unbelievably. No tories give a fat one.
New contracts started just this year depending what region you live, northern England and Scotland; the Midlands and Wales; south-west England; and London, south-east England and East Anglia. On which company is collecting evidence and assessing. It's going well, not!
