These are the people who want to ban Whatsapp from the UK because it's encrypted and they won't give them a backdoor into reading all of our messages "just in case we're terrorists".

Then when they use the very same platform for official Govt communication which should be kept on record, it's all "Whoops, I've set it to automatically delete the messages for purposes unknown. Also I've changed my phone and 'forgot' to back up my messages, and also my PA took my old phone on a ferry trip and accidentally dropped it into the sea.

"But apart from that I want to cooperate fully with the enquiry. No further comment."

(I know that last one is from the Rooney/Vardy thing but it's just as much of a whopper as anything coming out of Johnson's No 10)

I think you miss the point of a PM that says “I want this” , ministers who are then responsible for instructing their civil service departments for doing it, and the competence of the civil service on which it is carried out.
