They're already working on excuses, it was a task not suited to the skill set of the then pm, it was a once in a hundred years calamity that took the world by surprise, the country wasn't prepared, the country wasn't willing to comply, the nhs was overwhelmed, the care system was overwhelmed, 'we' couldn't foresee the harm the virus would do, there was no estimating the cost of lives, the opposition agreed with us to the hilt....

it'll be mistakes made in good faith, lessons learned, won't do wrong again we promise.

….I think the key aim is to have something in place that can effectively deal with such an outbreak in the future. They’ll try and put today down as a ‘rant’ but fortunately it’s not just Cummins who’s highly critical.

Of course, the Government handling will be documented and even at this stage it looks very bad. Just imagine when they get onto things like PPE.

You know the answer to this, very worst case scenario for rich politicians is they are forced to retire on 6 figure pensions and get paid 2000 quid an hour to speak at right wing think tanks

Oh I don't know, his candour with the language used was refreshingly open, he's accepted responsibility for the terms he's used, and effectively said he was calling it as he saw it and stands by it all as such. There's a hatchet job coming, they're piecing the phone records together, I'm not sure they're going to stick one person solely, but I can see yet another watchdog being dreamed up and paid for to monitor immediate government digital messages. If the panel can nail a few of these sleaze balls down before we get to the 'covid fast track preferential lanes of contract bidding' then some of the fraud, deceit, and abject mayhem can have a light shone on it. And all the peppa pig world bumbling won't wash then...
