They've done him, so many fires now he's nowhere to turn. Lasted longer than truss, suppose that's something.
If the Tory Party Conference wasn't in Manchester, they'd have declared the news that pretty much everyone knows is coming - HS2 is being stripped back.

Once the conference is finished, it'll be announced pretty darn quickly. Likewise, the tax-cut aspect is just another part of the back bencher play book. It's

They're saying, "Keep HS2," but also not wanting to pay for it. Personally, Sunak is probably the best of a bad, bad bunch.

It is so difficult to guess what he's going to do - all of his predecessors would have done some sort of fudge that would leave HS2 starting at Old Oak Common and going to Brum, and look ridiculous but I think he'll probably stop all of it rather than that. Given the vast waste caused by the way they are building it, and the lack of any control over it costing any more I think he'd be right to do it.

Its what he does with the money that will define him - offer tax cuts and he'll get smashed at the next election, but if he can come up with some really visible investment that actually helps people (such as tram networks in towns and cities for example) then the next election could be much closer than expected.

Oh that'd play well against their stance on Ulez. Real fireworks.

They are apparently cutting several large road projects as well, and as has been pointed out loads already they both invented ULEZ and ordered Khan to bring it in. Their stance against it is just that, a stance backed up by not much action (at the moment anyway).
It's a very large landscape of destruction already, but I'm trying to imagine what they cripple next. HS2 in the bin, hamstrung on taxation, stubborn inflation, zero growth, rosebank oil ok'd in spite of environmental promises, nhs disaster almost burnt down it's fuse, police in disarray, stick or twist on Ukraine depending on how the winds blows in trump-town, utilities run by the mafia, record levels of evictions and homelessness and repossessions (?), mp's quitting, lunatic liz, mengela may, brexit pain, what's left? Oh yeah, schools, hospitals, police stations, community centres, dangerously in disrepair, the exponential growth of need in social care, and a set of voters so blinded by hatred they'd eviscerate themselves to provide a red carpet (of sorts) to welcome back boris the behemoth of bullspit.
As a billionaire I suspect there are easier ways of operating day to day.

I don't understand why a large part of the tory party (including Truss) are calling for large tax cuts. How it's even possible? Public services have been cut to the bone as it is.

They bang on about productivity, but if your workers can't get basic healthcare, schooling and the council can't fix the roads etc, they won't be productive.

Personally im on a reasonable/average wage, paying tax has never really bothered me. A tax rise or cut barely makes a difference. So, we all know here this is going don't we? Another tax cut for the top earners.

Much of the top of that party (and the membership) has swapped out knowledge and ability for a quasi-religious belief system. Actions that fit within the belief system, like Truss' absurd cosplay when she was meant to be trying to prevent a war, are ok and are never held against the person; actions that don't fit within it, like backing the sovereignty of the Commons when Johnson tried to force through a no-deal Brexit, are always opposed until the person humbles themselves.

They are already on manoeuvres to take his job.
That tells you how good he is at being PM.
