This is great. So there is a skills shortage, and apparently 1-point-something million vacancies in the job market, best yet the nhs staffing is on it's knees, so, for instance, kids potentially finishing school (out on your ear at 16?) then progress to how long in great british national service? say two years for arguments sake, then college to get the quals to go to medical school/nursing university. So this bright idea puts yet another hurdle in the way of supplementing the numbers of workers where the nation needs them.

It's almost as if these genius ideas haven't been thought through in full.

But he had SOME expertise! Shapps has none (very little) in any of the roles he is asked to "cover"

you're going to be severely limiting who you can appoint as defence secretary if they have to have some sort of military expertise.

Our current Foreign Secretary is a Lieutenant Colonel, the Tories have quite a number of ex military, even ex leaders like Ian Duncan Smith….Sunak is a pillock putting Shapps into this position…….
