Can't remember where I was listening to it, but a caller to a radio program was coming up with how he would raise £60bn in taxes, over the next few years. All really targeted at those that earn more. The usual stuff was in there, like non dom. But the biggest one was those earning over £50k a year, pay tax from the first £, essentially no £12k allowance.
He showed you can easily bring in £30bn a year without going anywhere near lower/average earners

No one should be paying more tax.

We need a non-corrupt and competent government in charge of the purse strings first.

Imagine making people's financial situation immediately worse off, to raise £30bn for the Tories to pee up the wall.

There are other ways for the gov to generate income - they won't do it. And increasing personal taxation shouldn't be it.

That seems pretty unfair on people in London, for whom 50k a year isn't extravagant. Around my way you can't really get a 1-bed flat for less than £400k, so whereas £50k p/a might be a lot in some parts of the country, it's not here at all.
