It feels staggering that there aren't hard and fast rules against this?
It is staggering and it isn't. Until there's an outcry and things come to light parliamentarian rules have a habit of being quite elastic or favourable to them. I'm thinking the expenses scandal for one.
There are against using your parliamentary office to tout for business, but not for getting second, third incomes.
It's incredible given the obvious conflicts of interest.
