It isn’t though pete we’ve left a club and therefore all the benefits of that club . I get a lot of British people think we’re special and the rules shouldn’t apply but the idea the the entire EU would change its rules in fact it’s whole raison d’etre to accommodate the one nation that decide to leave sums up Brexit perfectly .

They can do as they wish. However the U.K. is still their biggest market. It just makes logical sense to deal with the U.K. in a sensible manner. But that seems to be beyond the powers that be in the EU……

Its not unreasonable, is it?

I mean here the government are, a year in to this crisis in Europe and have they increased defence spending yet? Increased production of defence equipment and munitions? Blocked the means by which hostile states influence our population? Increased domestic food production? Prepared the population for what might be around the corner? Actually led the country as opposed to responding randomly to what they think their mates in the media think of them?

The answer to all these questions is either no or "yes but we've just started it now". I actually credit Sunak for doing something, however little, in this respect btw - its a vast improvement on what Johnson and Truss did (ie: nothing).

It is shameful, pete. What makes it worse is the above mentioned twin spectres of absolute failure - who in any decent country would be tarred and feathered by now, if not shot - are now emerging to demand the PM do things they either CBA with doing, or didn't realise they should be doing, and in addition are demanding that he start rows with the allies we will need to get through this.

They are traitors or they are imbeciles pete. At a push, I will accept they might be both.

an unearned kindness...

In 1940 many - though by no means a majority - of Tories stood up and opposed the conduct of their war. Not a few of them backed that up by going off and fighting in that war, and some paid the ultimate price. That they did is a big factor why the UK survived that war.

The contrast with this lot is massive. As bad as he was, as close as he came to destroying this country, at least Chamberlain woke up a bit after Munich. What did Johnson do?

Hid behind theresa may and then cut her throat when the moment he orchestrated came. Went playing tennis with a pal of putins. Pissed off on a jolly with an unknown other for a spot of who knows what with a kgb agent. Reappointed a known sex offender. Was larging it up partying like Van Wilder whilst his monarch was on her todd at her old fellas funeral + another four times which he's tried to get the british idiot (tax payer) to cough up his legal fees for to try to quash. A quite reprehensible piece of work, an odious skid stain on the nations gruts, a talentless bigoted wannabe nazi who I curse daily wasn't alongside amess on that specific day. Rayner has it right - 'they're scum'.

Up yours 'alright jack' i & ii !

The UK’s departure from the EU was a democratic choice and the UK-EU institutions are functioning as intended. The Government does not believe this to be an appropriate subject for a public inquiry.

But you still miss the point. While you denigrate U.K. politicians as per above, you do not do anything similar with those from the EU, because of course they are wonderful people who only have the best interests of the U.K. at heart…or maybe, they are out to screw us as best they can, but you don’t think so…..
Pete, from my perspective, I’m afraid it is you who completely misses the point.

My concern is with the incompetence, dishonesty and ideological addiction of those empowered on behalf of the UK, to implement something as complex and critical as Brexit.

The big European boys did it and ran away ? Your squad of demented, self serving half-wits, promoted, negotiated and agreed the entire enterprise.

The fact that the EU had qualified grown ups in the room, was obvious from the start.

Trusting a habitual liar, that we held all the cards, cake and eat it and all the other drivel he spouted. The buffoon knew nothing about what he was doing, cared even less about the outcome, but saw it as a cause to promote himself into power.

I’m afraid that the phrase, own it, has never been more apt.

Not quite Pete mate.

UK is second to USA - 2021 figures - with China third.

EU exports more to UK than it imports.

This doesn't make good reading for UK exporters
