Welcome back Wayne
Thatcher …. ?
I know mate, weird isn’t it……
Thatcher …. ?
Once again it refuses to answer. Cake though...So you ran businesses then? Presumably for your own profit first and foremost? And that's your example as 'doing your bit?!'
Hahaha
This is such a Tory answer. It's literally perfect.
Love the hatred of the young. The older generations really showed those whippersnappers by making sure they have no economic, or environmental future. Hope they enjoy the shackles of capitalism! As you’ve only been here five minutes I’ve tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but I have no intention of running through my career for one such as yourself as you patently cannot discuss anything in a grown up manner. If you are not someone’s multi then I’m guessing a 25 year old still living at home with absolutely no experience of life. Enjoy your life….
Boomers are the worst generation in human history. They’ve reaped the rewards of post war social changes that their fathers fought so hard for yet now they’re desperate to destroy those rewards for their own grandchildren. Self entitled idiots forever looking backwards instead of forwards.Love the hatred of the young. Hey, what's with the insinuations? It's not like I'm insinuating that you're a cantankerous old fool. I would never do that.As you’ve only been here five minutes I’ve tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but I have no intention of running through my career for one such as yourself as you patently cannot discuss anything in a grown up manner. You shouldn't be putting stuff like on the forum. Attacking a person you don't know.Your bit? You've done nothing for no one. Ever.
That's abundantly clear to all.
The lack of economic and environmental future is the result of the acceptance and implementation of the Hayak /Friedman free market economic philosophies by Thatcher's Conservative government around 1980.Love the hatred of the young. Always understood that the Falklands war saved Thatcher. She’d have been a footnote if it wasn't for that. The lack of economic and environmental future is the result of the acceptance and implementation of the Hayak /Friedman free market economic philosophies by Thatcher's Conservative government around 1980.
They were voted in by a largely poorly educated and politically illiterate electorate. They had no idea of the economic revolution ahead.
They got hooked on the tories due to hand outs like cheap gas and water shares, buying council property at knock down prices then reselling at big profit, and the like.
The free market economy is responsible for the present chaos.
Not the people who were born in the nineteen fifties.
Know yer history!
Do you not think that the socialist norms of the 70s played a part in the adoption of Friedman's policies in the US and UK? After all, Hayak's work was produced in direct response to the rise of and threat posed by communism. Britain was the sick man of Europe, remember? The Tories got in because the country was in a mess and Labour under Foot was unwilling to see the scale of the problem or provide a less extreme form of medicine than that provided by Thatcher. Remember, the party was so far left that the "Gang of Four" felt they had to leave (funnily enough, I've just left an event held in a room named after Roy Jenkins). The lack of economic and environmental future is the result of the acceptance and implementation of the Hayak /Friedman free market economic philosophies by Thatcher's Conservative government around 1980.

With just cause tbh. At the peak in the 70s, around 24 million working days were lost to industrial action in a single year, and this in large part brought down the Heath government. When a Labour government didn't manage to fundamentally improve matters and the winter of discontent happened, the country was ripe for a fundamental change of approach. Do we think Labour and the unions accept that they massively overplayed their hand? The miners strike too.
She turned it into Lefty Scum v the rest of the country. ( Scargill fell into the trap )
For some reason, at the same time, she also gave the Police, their biggest ever pay award in one go !!!

I thought it was rather fun. But I was young, free and single.I agree Bruce, I`m old enough to remember three day weeks and blackouts.
It was pretty grim.
Ah yes, the legendary heatwave of 1976...I thought it was rather fun. But I was young, free and single.
And Everton were good to watch.
