And yet the Tories and the message of their press backers remains that Labour sank the economy when (with their backing) Brown bailed out their banker mates and led the rescue of western capitalism. Those kind of graphs always strike me as disingenous as they don't take into account external matters and they also fail to account for inflation and GDP growth. I mean Labour didn't run on a platform to not bail out the banks after the financial crash, and I doubt they would have scrapped the furlough scheme that did so much to raise debt during the pandemic. Before getting too cocksure, it's also worth remembering that the Tory leader at the time was a far more enthusiastic supporter of remaining in the EU than the Labour leader at the time. That's been the biggest non-global event that has damaged the UK.

Cameron was the main face for remain. He may have done a terrible job, but Labour had more support from the likes of Blair and Brown than from Corbyn, who has been a Eurosceptic his entire political career.Shame he did less campaigning for remain then
Gordon Brown was an OK guy - only PM not to take a life pension - Trusses pension should be stopped - a pension for on disastrous months work it needs looking into ...... There should have been a GEAnd yet the Tories and the message of their press backers remains that Labour sank the economy when (with their backing) Brown bailed out their banker mates and led the rescue of western capitalism.
Oh of course, but just because some of the dailies use terrible logic doesn't mean that should become the norm. And yet the Tories and the message of their press backers remains that Labour sank the economy when (with their backing) Brown bailed out their banker mates and led the rescue of western capitalism.
The Labour Party backed a 2nd referendum, Bruce ......Cameron was the main face for remain. He may have done a terrible job, but Labour had more support from the likes of Blair and Brown than from Corbyn, who has been a Eurosceptic his entire political career.
Cmon Joe, it's unlike you to fully grasp the big picture. As the survey below illustrates, many young people today don't think there will be a state pension for them when they retire, regardless of how much NI they pay, and that's because of the shifting demographic makeup of the country. It's the same thing I paid 6 % Plus NI - equals I qualified for pensions - sour grapes from you as you are behind the trend .....
I think you'll find that was the LibDems Joe.The Labour Party backed a 2nd referendum, Bruce ......
Labour manifesto was:I think you'll find that was the LibDems Joe.
I stand corrected.Labour manifesto was:
Labour will give the people the final say on Brexit. Within three months of coming to power, a Labour government will secure a sensible deal. And within six months, we will put that deal to a public vote alongside the option to remain. A Labour government will implement whatever the people decide
Same here Joe. When I was young 60 years ago, I resented the relatively large sum deducted from my meagre salary for a pension in the far distant future. It's the same thing I paid 6 % Plus NI - equals I qualified for pensions - sour grapes from you as you are behind the trend .....
