Well, the other part of that is, did he purposefully push for limp-lettuce-liz knowing full well she is a maroon and would pave the way for his triumphant return...

I suspect its yet another example of spectacularly bad judgement.

Dont get me wrong, he would happily make everyone worse off to benefit himself, but think this is good old fashioned incompetence.

This is whats clouding my mind, the bad judgement and incompetence, it's on a world record run. This is a football forum, (I promise I'm not talking down at you or anyone else) the situation as I see it is a side losing 90 - 0 having scored all the goals in their own net. There'd have to be some partial success somewhere along the way and I've looked and can't find it. Anywhere. In nigh 13 years. Astonishing.

They are stuck in an ideological bind that doesnt work. And they are too arrogant/entitled to admit they are wrong?

I'm not trying to be obtuse, but are you english? If you're American, its hard to convey, but the British class system works in an odd way.

So they will think Truss would have worked. It's a broken record that goes round in circles.

To use your analogy, they're losing 90-0 to onlookers, but the media are telling them they're drawing, and it's only the loony left who are telling them they are losing so should be ignored. They need to keep doing what they are doing, and just fire the ball harder at their own goal.

Someone like Sunak, represents a figure who says, maybe we should take a pause to consider whether the game continues.

That's sort of the analogy.

UK through and through for my many sins.
I have a rudimentary understanding of class, the landed gentry can do pretty much anything, as can the hyper elite wealthy above them. The favor grubbing enablers one rung down are desperate to break into the lawless top sector. And all of them mentioned just revel in crapping on the thickos that walk their earth and breath their air. How very dare we all live a bit longer collecting pension and having the audacity to die a bit slower clogging up their hospitals etc...

The wealthy want more, and the poor want help. Thats my read of the cycle.

So far as the 90 consecutive own goals, the media are reporting international news about us to us, we're a laughing stock, openly being ridiculed by such bastions of virtue as Italy, and to be fair to him Macron didn't stick the boot in after being provoked. mixed metaphor time, if it was boxing the referee would have stepped in and stopped it, but somehow the corner threw the towel in and its over the refs face so the pummeling continues.

They had a chance for sunak, but the boris machine said he was disloyal and played it up to a membership that appears not to keen on giving the top job to a non white chap.

rereading - they want to kick harder towards their own goal, the games up, the finances are relegated, this is risdale and leeds, 'we lived the dream' now reality has turned up and theres a spell in the wilderness coming that they'll wash their hands of. 'Chin chin old bean, more champers, don't worry about the oiks, let them eat cake...' (the irony!)

Hey chaps any chance you can keep football out of current affairs please? Tended to stay out of the Everton section these days due to our poor performance over the last few decades so come into CA for a little light relief and you’ve started to make it pretty depressing. ;)lol

The conservatives wouldn’t have even gotten in but for the financial shambles Brown left behind “there’s no money left” but of course he blamed the USA etc etc etc……of course if anyone says Covid, War in Ukraine, Energy crisis then these are just excuses. I’ll grant you that Truss royally screwed up and that it was Tory MP’s who brought this on themselves and the country, but if I had to choose someone to sort it out between Boris, Mordaunt, Sunak or Starmer I would list them in the order I’ve just printed…..
The note that was left as a joke?

You realise we are worse now right? After 13 years or Tory rule. Or do you just read headlines from the daily mail and take it as fact because its against labour?

And that it was worse prior to truss, covid, energy crisis or the war in Ukraine.

You need to do a poll of some billionaires, I reckon they think it is 13 years of magnificent management.

Spouting crap in the Daily Telegraph also really doesn't cut I'm afraid....

Even a broken clock tells the time right twice a day. Rare insight from that oaf.

Imagine putting the worst PM in history and the most useless first in that list.
The man can’t even dress himself properly without loookg like he fell out of a bush.
You really are “special” aren’t you lol

Johnson surrounded himself with idiots, Sycophants people who didn't have a clue and should never, ever have been in Parliament never mind on the front bench in Cabinet positions, because above all they would be loyal to him. Think about it, look at some of the names, then you can realise why this Country got itself into such a mess. Rees Mogg, Nadine Dorries, Pritti Patel, Raab, Truss, Coffey and Hancock. The rot started with Johnson nobody should forget that.
