Digital Tax is something that will brought in 10 years too late. Better late than never.
In theory, services should be provided by the best people to provide the service. If that's a government agency, fine. If it's not, that should equally be fine.
Yeah, I really hope that loop hole is closed. As an example I could pay to advertise on FB (as a U.K. business) targeting U.K. consumers. The ‘consumption’ as such takes part in the U.K. that loop hole needs closing and the VAT generated needs to go in our coffers.As with everything this will depend on what it actually is; a sales tax on transactions here is the only way this can work but what Hammond described sounded like it would be aimed at a mix of sales and revenue reported here, which could easily mean the continuation of sales reported via some low tax jurisdiction like Ireland.
