Economic and social policy aside( didn’t Corbyn describe Venezuela as a Socialist utopia or something), it was what people perceived as his default position of hatred of the Uk, US, NATO and his past backing of terrorists and more recently Russia over Salisbury that meant he was toxic to the electorate.

Apparently not. The One Nation Tory group are currently trying to figure out a candidate to get behind and Bojo isn't being mooted. But hunt, sunak and Mordaunt are. (However one MP was very vocal against Hunt apparently).

But then you have the ERG who will want a far right candidate. There is no unity candidate for them and the factions will remain in place.
