Here's the thing. You've got people at the moment crowing that since the Tories have rowed back on a bunch of stuff that they're not "true Conservatives" anymore, and this whole schtick around Labour isn't really any different. Those that back a strongly left-wing stance are a left-wing version of the ERG. I'm just not sure they realise it.

It is a false equivalence I think. You won’t find many staunch socialist left wingers like the 70s or 80s even in the Labour Party. And their influence on pretty much anything is almost non-existent whereas the ERG have a big influence and following.
Depends how you define a strong left wing stance. Most folk I know on the left are fairly rational with what can be attained and know there has to be compromise.

Economic and social policy aside( didn’t Corbyn describe Venezuela as a Socialist utopia or something), it was what people perceived as his default position of hatred of the Uk, US, NATO and his past backing of terrorists and more recently Russia over Salisbury that meant he was toxic to the electorate.

She comes across as far more intelligent than Truss...
She comes across as far more articulate than Truss, both in the HoC and in talking to the media...
She comes across as actually having a personality, unlike that cardboard cut-out Truss...

As a life-long Labour voter, she is the last one I want to see leading the Tories, as she just may turn their fortunes around.
