The Chase for 4th

Spurs, RS and Arsenal will more than likely bolster in january.

We on the other hand probably won't, and with injuries and suspensions creeping in... We could drop away from the pack

Who is our rivals

Arsenal
West Brom
Liverpool

The rs have been struggling to score and have agreed a 12 million fee for Sturridge, will this signing get the goals to help them get 4th?

Arsenal always seem to get enough wins to finish 4th

We will make no big signings so this can cause to lose 4th, we need another goal scorer just like the rs but our board wont take the gamble.

difference is for west brom or liverpool 4th would just be a bonus, no one was expecting them to get 4th.
we have been widley tipped to break into the top 4 this season and if we dont that could be the end of moyes and fellaini.

RS have reacted by bringing in a forward arsenal and spurs also have money to spend, and needless to say chelsea will replace sturridge possibly falcao.

Moyes needs to mirror the rest of the teams around us or we will probably fall short.

As we all know the rs needed a striker, what do we need? and will our board stump up the cash?

People seriously consider Liverpool as a side who will finish fourth? Really? They will finish about 9th I reckon. They are distinctly average. Swansea plus Suarez that is all they are. Likes of Allen and Shelvey are first teamers shows how far they have fallen. All season I have thought it is between us Arse and Spurs. I have seen the other two quite a bit this season and I honestly think we are the better side. Yesterday was a massive win.

I think Arsenal are more likely to win than us though. As average as they may be they always manage to get in the top 4. This isn't a big deal for them, it's nothing out of the ordinary. They went to Wigan and Reading and got 6 points, we got 1 point from them two games.

i cant see us finishing 4th, too many points dropped already in games we needed to get points in, the fixture list has been kind to us early season

Good point

They have been in this postion time and time again and like you have said they are picking up points against teams we have failed to beat

Another factor will be that we have to play Arsenal,Spurs and the RS away from home and our record at those grounds isnt great to say the least

only arsenal and spurs really. Chelsea will surely have too much quality although with a terrible manager at the helm, anything is possible. don't consider liverpool as a real threat. people keep overeacting when they win the odd game at home against an average team. Remember they shipped 3 to a team tipped by some to take the drop. They should be aiming for top 8.

I don't know if i'd accept 5th place this season. The more the weeks go by and we keep touching 4th, the more it is a possibility. I see genuine weaknesses in just about any team in the league, but arsenal's experience of a constant top 4 finish should prove vital - although not a lot of their best team have been there that long.

also, the more i see games like yesterday i see another striker as more and more priority. Not a backup like anichebe or tolos, but someone who will genuinely put jelavic under massive pressure for that starting birth
