Had to google that one but yes I’d agree
A false sense of superiority
Funny though I am over in Liverpool 8-10 times a year and in London 2/3 times a year visiting my son and I never come across racism towards me or by any other people I would meet

You would be amazed how often it's "not you, it's the other ones". You know. The mythical migrant that has been caricatured in the press to be a pain in the arse, just like its the mythical migrant that is here undercutting people's wages. You expect the tabloids to be utter trash, but you kind of hope the government would act more appropriately, but alas they're the scummiest of the lot.

Well, you wouldn’t find much in Liverpool or London, Bri.

This is a very Celtic city and most of us seem to have Irish roots somewhere along the line.

And the ferry crossings from Liverpool to Belfast and Dublin always ensured a thriving cross pollination between the City of Liverpool and the Emerald Isle.

(it is more Easyjet these days but the young ol’ Khal was a veteran of many a long night spent with his granny travelling on the Irish boats :))

And London is anything but an English city anyway....with a much more outward looking, European world view than the likes of Wigan, Burnley or flippin’ Sunderland.

Any currently here will be able to stay, they currently make up 8% of the care sector, 4% of NHS nurses .
The problems will be down south were the low wages on offer in the care industry are not attractive at all

Working in the local authority which basically sub contracts it's care responsibility out to private companies which many do, I'm more than happy to see this immigration cap. In fact it is truly a benefit, it's disgusting what these companies pull to increase profitability.
Far to long those in care have have been taken advantage.
Regarded as low skilled even though we entrust them to care for our nearest and dearest and happy to seem on minimum wage... It's a day reckoning that needs addressing, hopefully this will bring it about sooner!
Have little sympathy for companies that go to the wall the good ones will survive many poor ones will either shape up or fail and that is good.

they are far from low skilled, they have to medicate and monitor people for various things, be an advocate for them at doctors , benefits offices ect , along with getting them safely through the day, getting into the bath ect and in most cases i have seen more like a good friend to people that haven't had the best of chances in this world .
The motion the workers are just there to spoon feed and wipe bums is so far from the reality its untrue , they should be paid far more than they are.
i am with you i hope it helps them get what they deserve.

This tweet sums up why this government can do whatever the eff they want.

It becomes dead easy to do it once you get the knack. Plus hotel ones are designed to be changed easier. Plus hotels hire more than one person.

That is skilled labour that is now seen as unskilled thanks to care companies that have pennypinched.

Remembering where tables are is simple. Most restaurants have a map anyway. You don’t serve 37 tables at once. You learn how to manage time.

You go into any care home in the UK and I can guarantee that 75% of the staff are so called low-skilled foreign workers. This ridiculous new ruling will see the collapse of our care system.
We either need start addressing the true cost of social care or go full on Tory with individual responsibility and start building our own granny or grandad flats and start caring for our elders and other vulnerable people.

I think that's what it will come to. It's fairly obvious that the tories want to dismantle our care system saving them billions per year and force Joe public to take on the responsibility for providing care to the most vulnerable in our communities.

Do nurses in the blessed NHS get paid well then? I must have missed that. The median salary in the UK is £23,000, which for the work they do is bloody awful.

How will it do that? There are 41,000 unfilled nursing vacancies at the moment (or 10% of the entire nursing workforce if you prefer). In social care, you can probably double that. In no way, shape, or form is this a case of foreign nurses 'taking jobs' and pushing down wages. No way whatsoever.

Cabbies, couriers, hair dressers, catering, construction, all vocations that have significant % of forens in the workforce, (plenty more as well), never in a million years can guarantee £24000 as a starting salary.

Which coffee chain was it that said around 90% of their applicants were foreign? All this snobbery about skills does my nut in. If you have the skills required for the job you're doing then whose fecking business is but yours and your employers? There's no evidence whatsoever of British people not getting jobs because forens nicked them all. The bloody state of people who voted for this shower.

Construction haven't a hope in hell anyway because most of them are freelancers going from job to job so won't have an employer that can sponsor them. Fella I know does that, and earns a fortune, yet he'd not be allowed into the country if he wasn't already here for some reason. Couriers and drivers will be the same as they're classed as independent workers. Apparently the government have absolutely no idea how work is these days.

Its the sort of info you could get hold of easier than me, but is there any data/projections on how many EU workers have registered to stay, post D Day?
