If Cook and Root had showed some proper form and Stokes been there it could have been a tighter contest, but it is what it is, better in all departments are the Aussie's at present.

Comfortably, only one of the bowlers from that side that would get in this one is Harris and he would replace all of them anyway. Lyon is comfortably better than Doherty and Beer who were bizarrely picked that series. Why can't your selectors have done something dopey this time to even it up a bit?
Thought they'd done that by picking mitch marsh but obviously its worked out, his bowling is rank average though.

Is mark wood fit for you guys ? Rated him highly from what I've seen of him
Not fit and when he played last summer he could barely get the ball down at 85mph so his main asset in his pace looks to be gone. Injuries have done for him.

Been with the Lions in Australia and you would think if he had been bowling quickly again he would have been called up, as he hasn't then you think his England days are over.

Shame when bowlers just seem to lose it. Jason Gillespie in 05 ashes i think it was springs to mind.

if overton is injured I fear for us, can see the aussies tonking 550, then us crumbling to the most unlikely of defeats

Wrong really, this is gonna be the most likely of defeats!

Vince played really well, was unlucky, the ball starc bowled was insanely good

As they say, there's no playing that.

Saw on BBC people calling this the 'ball of the century' etc. Surely if it's hit a crack it's just luck? Sure he's done well to hit the crack if he's aiming for it, but anything after that is pure fortune, or in Vince's case mis-fortune. It's not like Starc was thinking 'oh I'll just the the crack right there and bounce it off to his Off Stump'!

I think overton has something though, bowls with real height and bounce, he's toughed it out with his injury, seems to be the one the aussie commentators have took a shine too also
Just think if he has a crack in his rib if we lose this test which seems likely we may as well keep him for the New Zealand tour and send him home.

I think he and Anderson were deliberately aiming for the crack ,so I think some skill is involved. Shows how crap Broad has been with his height and supposed extra bounce.

BALL OF THE CENTURY and the Ashes safely back where they belong.

I like the look of Vince though. Impressed alot of people with his technique on this tour.
