the ashes needs a shake up because it's becoming really crap. Aussies are too crap to play the swinning conditions in england and england are too crap to play the pace and bounce in aus. This will be the 4th series in a row that the home side will have won. Aussies haven't actually won in england in 16 years. I remember after the last ashes series i said that was the worst ever for skill, it was just two dumb teams giving their wickets away and the bowlers didn't have to do anything, but this one has been even worse.
Terrible dissapointed in root, i must say.
I started watching the 2010/11 series after the last test to cheer myself up, that was a joy to behold. Root is possibly the only one in this england team that would get in that one, at the expense of collingwood, but he's hardly shown so far he'd be worthy. On the opposite side, steve smith was playing for aus anyway, and i don't think any of this current crop would replace that team bar maybe starc. The quality is dire here.

Did our bowling attack have siddle and hilfenhaus in it that series ? I'd put all 3 of our quicks ahead of those 2 pie chuckers.

Comfortably, only one of the bowlers from that side that would get in this one is Harris and he would replace all of them anyway. Lyon is comfortably better than Doherty and Beer who were bizarrely picked that series. Why can't your selectors have done something dopey this time to even it up a bit?

I thought that when typing it, Vince did play well, freak ball got him, he was going on to a ton.
Vince, Malan and Bairstow have been our best with the bat, look at Root's average against Smith, something like 30 to 140, Cook is playing like a tail ender.
