560 Americans killed by police in 2016. Last year over 1100. Another tonight in Minnesota.

Story from the girlfriend the cop told him to get his license. As he Reached for it he told the cop he was licensed to carry a concealed weapon. cop said don't move and as he moves his hands away from his pocket the cop shot him 4 times. 10 year old in the backseat. GF was on FB live with guns pointed at her while the BF laid dying in the passenger seat.

One side of the story obviously but if her version is true it's pretty sickening.

Whatever side of these issues you fall on we better get prepared because the US is a powder keg and one of these nights is going pop.

The USA is in all sorts of bother.
Trouble is, their horrible, trickle-down neo-liberal economic acolytes are all attempting pollution of NZ residency.
I see it every time I'm down in Queenstown.
Prefer the Russians...they're miscreant pricks as well...but everything's relative I guess

they are paid and trained to do so, they fail far too often, something is very wrong with the entire set up over there, I heard a few horror stories about the american police myself a couple of weeks ago from an ex-army helicopter pilot, who trains police and private operations now, in his words 'they mean well, but they are poorly trained, overly equipped, and have too many hero fantasies'

Exactly.

It happens to white and Asian people too.

That Indian guy partially paralysed when he had his neck broken by a police officer who arrested him without just cause because he couldn't speak English. In the USA visiting his son.

Then there was two white teenagers killed separately

This one:

http://edition.cnn.com/2015/10/16/us/michigan-sheriffs-sergeant-teen-shooting-lawsuit/

He actually says at one point 'what are you doing officer?'

It wasn't even a legitimate stop. These sorts of tactics against law abiding citizens show how ill disciplined the police are on the USA. Running around waiving guns.

Frost later writes in a narrative account of the stop submitted as part of the police incident report that he thought that in light of Guilford's challenges, the teen may have calling in reinforcements from a local "sovereign citizen or militia movement."

So basically he shot him as he thought he was going to call in the Michigan branch of the state militia. Jesus wept.

If you were over 19 smashing a 16 year old you could be arrested too. American law is a bit weird anyhow. Consent = 18, but if you're a teenager down to 12?
He's a convicted nonce so good riddance, karma caught up with him.

Regards to the police shootings away from this, does amaze me why they always shoot to kill, shoot them in the legs, shoulders, etc. Even use beanbag rounds, put anyone down them.

On the BBC website 20 minutes ago;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-36732908

Mr Castile had been stopped in Falcon Heights, a suburb of St Paul, because the car had a broken rear light, the woman, identified in local media reports as Lavish Reynolds, said.

Before he was shot, he told the officer that he was licensed to carry a concealed gun and had one in his possession, she said.

"You shot four bullets into him, sir. He was just getting his license and registration, sir," Ms Reynolds says in the video

I think this is a big part of the problem - police knowing the person has a gun on them...

Same in Canada, not shooting everyone, but cop paranoia..

Got pulled over with a friend driving in Vancouver sone years a go. She said to me 'quick, put your hands on the dash..'

I was like, what? Seriously??

The cop approaches driver side, hand on sidearm. Literally expecting you to start shooting. Very frightening. You can see why these things happen, one false move or overly nervous person and it's goodnight.

It's the Canadian 'Sweeney'!!

This is unfortunately a more clear view of what happened to Alton. No evidence of a gun or going for a gun. Murder plain and simple.

You're watching a different video to me, because what I see is a man who won't keep still and moments before he was shot made a move with his right arm as his head comes up.

Changes nothing. He doesn't resist arrest, that doesn't happen.

There are plenty of cases of unsuspecting police officers being killed which has helped to create a very nervy police force.
Not to say that all police over there are innocent, but it's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.
