No, it's not a western it's people having to make split second life or death decisions that are easy for the likes of us to second guess.
they are paid and trained to do so, they fail far too often, something is very wrong with the entire set up over there, I heard a few horror stories about the american police myself a couple of weeks ago from an ex-army helicopter pilot, who trains police and private operations now, in his words 'they mean well, but they are poorly trained, overly equipped, and have too many hero fantasies'

But why not shoot him in the arm that is reaching for the gun? Instead of point blank in the upper chest?

Why are so many of these police shootings fatal? They are trained officers of the law ffs.

2 policemen are on top of him. 2. And they decide not to restrain his arms? (Or they did and shot him anyway?) One of them decides to push his face into the ground instead.

I don't doubt it. I'm just not prepared to hang them out to dry until an investigation is done.

Daily Beast reporting the opposite:

On Tuesday night, a 911 caller said a man at the store was threatening patrons with a gun. Officers Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake responded to the call from the Triple S Food Mart and encountered Sterling in the parking lot. Store owner Abduallah Muflahi told The Daily Beast that Sterling was not the person who was causing trouble and was a welcome presence at the store for years where he sold CDs from the parking lot.

Yet after tackling Sterling and bringing him to the ground, one of the officers yelled, “He’s got a gun!”

The new video, provided by Muflahi, does not appear to support the claim that Sterling’s supposed gun represented an active threat to the officers. Instead, it shows Sterling being repeatedly shot after he was pinned on the ground.

a well trained, non-racist police force

Whether intentional or not, it's hard to deny that policing in the US appears to be systemically racist

They are trained to kill; legitimate threats need to be promptly taken down before they can harm others. The problem with policing in the US seems to be too little training on discerning what is and is not a legitimate threat.

Wait for him to pull a gun and start shooting? Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.
2 officers armed with spray tasers handcuffs and night sticks take him to the ground, then pump 5 bullets into him instant justice US style

I have little faith in any such investigation

That's changing, if only because of the phones of witnesses. Police departments can no longer cover up and wait out the victim's money for lawyers, and must make correct decisions, even if not quick. And the DAs who side with PDs to protect bad cops are being driven out of office also.

Sounds too much like a Nolan Batman flick, but it actually looks like there could be some changes in the way these things are handled. It was just 5 years ago that we were being told that filming police actions was illegal and subject to prosecution. That's been fixed and now police action is seen as a matter of public record.

Hadn't he already been tazered? if he kept still and cooperated he'd still be alive. The fact he didn't makes me to think he might not be the good boy the BLM crowd will portray him as.

Surely the cost of providing body cameras would offset the costs of any potential lawsuits.

Im not saying he is a good boy what im saying is that if the police cant control that situation they should not be in that type of job
