And one of those times was specifically to repeal a previous amendment. And yet the constitution has been amended 27 times already.

Yup. And that was one of the most important insights of the Founding Fathers—that there were things that would need to change in the future. And yet the constitution has been amended 27 times already.
I never suggested it was going to suddenly stop, that is blooming obvious, but it will slow, dramatically and continue to do so,whichis, I am sure even you can agree, a better alternative to what we have now, innocent children being murdered dozes of times a yearYou are completely missing my point and the context I made it in.
@Noisy noise annoys says we should just ban guns as that would just get rid of all gun crime
My counter point is, in a country with 400 million guns, banning them isn't going to be suddenly stop gun crime. Criminals break the law, that's what they do. Guns being illegal will not stop them using guns, in the same way drugs being illegal doesn't stop drug traffickers. Guns are a force equalizer. It is perfectly legal to own a gun in the UK, we didn't just outright ban them did we
To answer your other point, I don't own a gun and have no desire to, I am not American. I have said in this thread many times that I want to see more restrictions and access to guns in the US, something similar to what Canada does would be ideal. I am approaching the argument from a point of, it is extremely unlikely that America will ever outright ban guns, so what is a solution that both sides could get behind and something like a Canada approach could work. It is not as black and white as you are making out.
@Noisy noise annoys didn't make that point though. You created a.strawman argument, which is not the same. You are completely missing my point and the context I made it in.

Highly recommend the Ken Burns documentary on Prohibition for those who are interested. Really goodAnd one of those times was specifically to repeal a previous amendment.
Even that one just dealt with Congressional pay raises. The last one that actually impacted average citizens was when the voting age was lowered to 18, and that’s been over 50 years ago.Yup. And that was one of the most important insights of the Founding Fathers—that there were things that would need to change in the future.
I do feel like we are in an era of rigidity when it comes to the Constitution—believe the last Amendment was about 30 years ago. In thinking about the Amendments, they tend to be clustered in certain eras: Reconstruction, the Progressive era, and the Civil Rights era for example.
Very sad to hear but I guess, the couple are in a better place now.Terrible reading about one of the Teachers who was shot dead that her Husband died of a Heart Attack last night.
4 kids who have lost their Parents so sudden.
Yup exactly. I can’t even remember the last one that was proposed to be honestEven that one just dealt with Congressional pay raises. The last one that actually impacted average citizens was when the voting age was lowered to 18, and that’s been over 50 years ago.

They are dead. They are not in any place. Their children, family and friends will never see them again. Please spare us this moronic "they are in a better place" garbage. If they are in a better place why is everyone sad about it? Everyone should be happy for them.Very sad to hear but I guess, the couple are in a better place now.
What America really needs is a Democratic Party that is as ruthless in it’s desire to help people as the the Republican Party is in it’s desire to hurt them. The Republicans didn’t like the Roe v. Wade ruling, and spent the next five decades working within the system to get it overturned. As much as the end result angers me, what they accomplished is genuinely impressive. Overturning Roe never enjoyed any sort of majority support, they operated entirely within the law, (until trying to overturn the 2020 election, but by then the die was already cast) and eventually got their way. What America needs is another major party to split the the Dems and Republicans, they are so divisive and cannot work on anything, Obama wanted universal HC and the Republicans stopped that, he wanted to overhaul Gun legislation and they stopped that, you see the issue with abortion, immigration, legalised drugs and its the same thing.
A third party maybe to the centre needs to come in and change the face of divisive politics there, also lobbyist groups in Washington who are to powerful that have politicians in their back pocket needs to be highlighted what a detriment they are to America's well being, they own politicians by pretty much bribing them to block and vote on legislature.
They’re dead, mate, not sure that’s a better place than alive , especially as there is nothing after you dieVery sad to hear but I guess, the couple are in a better place now.
The thing is with Roe v Wade, is that it directly violates the 10th amendment. I don't think overturning Roe v Wade has much to do with banning abortion, but more to do with honoring the 10th amendment. What America really needs is a Democratic Party that is as ruthless in it’s desire to help people as the the Republican Party is in it’s desire to hurt them. Imagine if Democrats applied themselves similarly to something like gun control or health care.
