For me, second amendment stands for everything that America is supposed to represent. For me, it's all about freedom. The 2nd amendment is supposed to empower the citizens and give the citizens the freedom. America was formed based on an uprising against a tyrannical regime and the ideas of 2nd amendment was fermented from this.

The 2nd amendment does not say anything about background checks or mental health screening but that's definitely something I would consider as somebody who takes the 2nd amendment incredibly seriously. Beto O'Rouke is a clown btw.

Where I studied American history? My uncle was a PA for Ross Perot in his college days.

Good point.

You can't just repeal the 2nd amendment anymore anyways. There are too many guns everywhere and taking away guns is just punishing the law abiding citizens and leaving them vulnerable to criminals.
Vulnerable to criminals? So all those countries that dont have guns but have much, much lower murder figures - explain that
I’d rather be vulnerable to criminals (what ever that means) than part of the huge gun death rate that the US has. 2 mass shoutings A DAY

There has been one shooting at a school in the UK in my 47 years (which resulted in complete overhaul of our gun laws) there has been 30 this year in the US

Just shows even trained cops have to wait for the units specially trained in CQC (SWAT etc.) before they'll engage.
Goes to confirm what I said earlier about the madness of suggesting teachers should be armed.
After Columbine the specific recommendation was not to wait for the trained units - even if only a single officer. Hence why some of the questioning of the police tactics in this case. Agree fully on the teachers bit.

And the final practical lesson of Columbine is a revolution in police response tactics. Cops followed the old book at Columbine: surround the building, set up a perimeter, contain the damage. That approach has been replaced by the “active shooter protocol.” Optimally, it calls for a four-person team to advance in a diamond-shaped wedge. (If there isn’t time to gather four officers, a single officer should charge in alone.) They’re trained to move toward the sound of gunfire and neutralize the shooter. Their goal is to stop him at all costs. They will walk past a dying child if they have to, just to prevent the shooter from killing more. The active protocol has proved successful at numerous shootings during the past decade. At Virginia Tech alone, it probably saved dozens of lives.

He has to be THE most spineless. He’s now into his seventh year of licking the boots of the man who called his wife ugly and accused his father of playing a role in the JFK assassination.

Yep, total arsehole…. Just park a tank and 200 soldiers around the school…and lock the backdoor…..

There’s a lot wrong here, but I’ll just pick this last bit. How in the world does your uncle working for Ross Perot have anything to do with your own education and knowledge of American history or government?

My uncle was a plus handicap. That doesn’t help me break 80 when I play…

Based on the timeline there, and the fact that you’ve precisely referred to me as “Brah” I’m gonna guess you’re about 15 or 16 which would help explain some things. Keep learning. “Freedom” does not mean you can do whatever you want to do, including buying military grade weapons that our founding fathers couldn’t have possibly foreseen.
