I know the easy answer here is to ban guns and that would take a massive step towards solving the problem. The underlying issue here though, what's causing it? It's almost always a former student going back with a grudge, there is more to it than access to weapons. For it to happen so regularly. What is the root cause?

Just heartbreaking news , not long dropped my daughter off at school and I can't imagine her not being here anymore at home time. Any parent affected by this , I cannot begin to understand their feelings.

Commiserations for another dreadful tragedy

I simply don't understand how a supposed right to bear arms can be more important than the lives of children.

Americans may be interested to read of the responses to UK shootings in 1987 and 1996 which hardened already fairly firm gun control measures in the UK

A young Andy Murray survived Dunblane. Sixteen pupils and one teacher died.
I remember both too well. For Dunblane, my wife and I were on short break in Clifden Connemara. The weather was atrocious, and while watching the news coverage we both decided to just go home three days early. We were so depressed that anyone could do such a thing, we had no stomach to continue our 'holiday'. 13 March 1996.
