The lawmakers in America are absolutely horrified by those figures and after 2 days locked in a room have come up with the solution that more guns are needed. If absolutely everyone carried a gun then mass shootings would be reduced as chances are the problem would be sorted by 2-3 people, anyone killed in crossfire would not count as that is an accidental death. For which they will be sued for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Starting from Monday there will be a free handgun in every promotional pack of Rice Krispies. God bless America.

The laws won't change. It's a kin disgrace. I'd call it unbelievable, but it's normal. Hopefully one day it'll change... soon. But it won't. Rip to them all.

Five of the ten worst single-shooter mass murders in American history have come in just three years under Trump's Presidency. Hate breeds hate.
It's too easy to blame him. No other US president has also been interested in changing the gun laws. But it needs to change and Trump should be doing a lot more, yet he isn't. You wonder why, don't you. No doubt all boils down to $$$.

Or just go back to what the Second Amendment actually says and get the federal (and state) governments to organize, equip and regulate a militia comprised of all adult American citizens of good character.

They can then take measures required to satisfy the criteria of "a well-regulated militia" (such as requiring training, standardizing ammunition and weapon types and even supplying the things themselves if they wanted to be really effective) which would have the effect of wrecking most of the gun industry over there, which would allow them to actually do checks on these people and to keep a register of who had what (which would be required so you could call the militia out in an emergency). It would also cut away a lot of the legal argument on which the current pro-gun position rests, because it is a lot more correct than the failed collective rights argument is.
Yep. Came here to say exactly this. This was written when the Americans where even more racist than the are now. And the “ well armed militia”, where rounding up people of colour.

Is this not the National Guard as they’re officially parts of the Militia of the United States?

It isn't, no. The collective rights theory says that it is, but to hold that view means you have to ignore the bit that says "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" - and ignoring that is what has helped the NRA (and more serious gun rights groups) to strike down much of the legislation that was brought in under the name gun control via winning lots of court cases.

It isn't. This mightn't be a popular thing to say, but blaming this on Trump is incorrect and completely ignoring the systemic and social problems that are at the root of a country that routinely experiences hundreds of mass shootings a year and doesn't do a single thing about it ever. It pre-dates Trump and it will happen under the next US President too

Is anyone laying it solely on Trump? I've only seen how he stokes the fires, how his hate-filled rhetoric plays a part whenever a white supremacist goes on a spree. Absolving him of any blame isn't really on.

Obviously and almost certainly.

The shooters always tend to be creepy white dweebs. I'm not saying Trump isn't a completely inept, racist buffoon, but linking mass shootings to him serves absolutely no purpose and is mostly wrong. Maybe this dude was in some way inspired by Trump, but any links will be so tenuous they're barely worth mentioning, and posts like the ones you shared there aren't going to help anyone either.

That picture has been doing the rounds for years, it just gives fuel to his followers who already believe the media are out to get him. Besides from that, it's a lie. There's plenty to be laid at Trump's door without having to resort to making stuff up too.

How doesn't it serve a purpose? Motive needs to be explored. Any links would be tenuous? How so? Working awfully hard to defend him like.

The post in question is doing the rounds cause he apparently shared the post, not that he actually made the image.

I'm certainly not defending him. I think I've made it pretty clear what I think of Trump, but mass shootings haven't just started becoming a thing in America in the last two years. It wouldn't matter if this lad had a room that was wall-to-wall posters of Trump, it's a deeply-rooted problem that goes way beyond the current President, and laying it at Trump's door doesn't achieve anything. It's just point-scoring imo. The system needs to change and we all know it won't
