A gunman opened fire at a church in Texas during Sunday services, resulting in multiple reported casualties.

The attack happened at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs in Wilson County.

Local ABC affiliate KSAT 12 reported the gunman entered the church at around 11:30 local time and began shooting.

Police told the outlet there were "multiple victims" and the gunman had been killed in the aftermath. The number of casualties is not yet clear.

Photos and video from the scene showed the area taped off by local law enforcement.

A number of helicopters have arrived to transport the wounded, KSAT 12 reporter Max Massey said.

I mean the President railed on immigration right after New York but Republicans said it was disgraceful to discuss gun control after Vegas.

Not all of us do mate. The Republicans in this country refuse to budge on this issue. They won't even have a conversation.

I don't understand the gun obsession at all, nevermind automatic weaponry. The idea that guns are like toys just baffles me.

The NRA has invested a truckload of money in convincing Americans that it is un-American to put controls on guns. A conversation isn't an option for most people on the right.

Which always sounds ridiculous too me. I bet several people had guns but the fact the kid had tactical armour and assault rifles kind of tells he knew what he was doing and expected to be shot at being texas.

The whole arm them all makes no sense. Soldiers die and have died historically by being ambushed or surprised.

Just because one carries a gun doesn't mean they have the ability to strive of every type of attack unless they are the twitchy sort who is expecting it all of the time.

Whats more annoying that in a tragedy the left is not allowed talk about gun control but the right is allowed justify carrying guns and have their say about the constitutional right to carry one.
