Technically, I don't think much of that is illegal. Indefensible, immoral, and impeachable (been there, done that), but not illegal. People, even horrible people, in a free society are not locked up for acts which are not illegal.

My overall stance it that the justice system should do it's thing - investigate, arrest, prosecute -- without political interference or influence one way or the other.
It has enough bias and politics to it already. We don't need to continue to normalize that.

I agree with everything you said in this and the previous post.

One of the things that most disturbed me about Trump was his blatant attempt to strong-arm the DOJ into investigations/prosecutions into political adversaries whilst doing the reverse for his cronies.

I most assuredly don’t want Biden doing that - our criminal justice system is capricious enough without adding an extra layer of political corruption.

I think the punishment of a president's breach of the Emoluments* Clause would take the form of impeachment rather than a criminal indictment.
