You don't think he should be locked up, for stoking the fire rights fears, encouraging far right nutjobs to commit violence, deliberately mishandling a crisis that has killed hundreds of thousands etc. He ought to be locked up, no doubt about it.

Technically, I don't think much of that is illegal. Indefensible, immoral, and impeachable (been there, done that), but not illegal. People, even horrible people, in a free society are not locked up for acts which are not illegal.

My overall stance it that the justice system should do it's thing - investigate, arrest, prosecute -- without political interference or influence one way or the other.
It has enough bias and politics to it already. We don't need to continue to normalize that.

*yes inciting violence is illegal, but he was never as explicit as would be required by law.

Also WTF happened that I now sound like I am defending Trump????????
I most assuredly am NOT.

As grim as he is, stochastic terrorism isn't a solid foundation for any prosecution, it'll be financial crimes that will hopefully do them in the end. What about misuse of the office for financial gain/violations of the emollients clause? Who would take that forward?

Emollients would be federal so FBI I assume, but I doubt they go that route. Trump has so politized the FBI we are almost better off with them staying out of it.

As you say financial - taxes or bank fraud - will be his downfall, if it happens. And I think it will be state charges.

It's only covid that cost him the election (just about) in the end, if covid never happened he would of walked the election. Even despite that 70m still voted for him. If he runs again in 4 years time he will point out bidens mistakes and win again.

Lol, is there any box on the awful human being list you don't tick? Biden won by 5 million votes+ and a healthy electoral margin by the way. Your tangerine hero has a date with justice now, soz

Maybe. But 4 years is a long time in politics, the reaction might be similar to me seeing your post - "Christ... are you still knockin about..."

Trumpers are making too much of the fact 70 million people voted for him.

Sure, he has a huge personnal vote.

But the vast majority of that 70 million voters were voting for the Republican Party and if Joe Biden had been a Republican they would have voted for him.

It is like in Liverpool....a Tory free zone.

If a monkey ran in my constituency as a Labour candidate he would be elected.

I think the punishment of a president's breach of the Emoluments* Clause would take the form of impeachment rather than a criminal indictment.

* As opposed to emollients, which is another term for skin moisturizers and which aren't presently legally actionable under US law.

Mostly their version of woolybacks too. Hayseeds, hillbillies and rednecks who live in rural and semi-rural counties.
