Pretty much every weekend lately we head out to north west Connecticut (where my wife is from).
It's a 3 hr drive and the last hour is through beautiful countryside.
The area seems very politically involved, there are yard signs in every second yard, for all sorts of races and both parties.
A lot of people will put out yard signs for every race their parties in, so 3 yard signs in some yards.
I remember in '16 every republican house had a Trump/Pence sign along with who ever was running for state senate or whatever.
This year there are more yard signs than ever and about 30 to 40% are for republican candidates in local races,
But there is not one Trump sign anywhere, none of the republican signs are red (all white) none have an elephant or anything.
It's quite a remarkable turnaround for a purple area.
A few probably just don't want the hassle a Trump sign would bring and will vote for him but I think many more see him as the death of their party.
I haven't seen any Trump signs in Massachusetts either.

I just got back from a weekend trip to Page County and the Luray area of Virginia. Truly frightening country, poetic in its breathtaking beauty. Trump signs everywhere - I mean this with all seriousness - it was 90/10 Trump/Biden.
A debate can only be bad for Biden. I'm terrified. I've said it once and I'll say it again - I don't want to hear him speak before the election. Just let Trump hang himself. Bubble wrap him up and wheel him out on November 4th when Trump challenges the election results.
I make fun of my rich GOP friends for this all the time. They want to punch me in the face b/c they know it's true
Why is Nevada such an outlier there?
Because usually blue states are where the urban centers are. Nevada is an outlier b/c most of their population live in and around Las Vegas, which is very transient, and its economy isn't normal compared to most other cities/states - it's all tourism/gambling based. For me, it's not surprising to see this.
Culturally extremely diverse with a very strong, very large service sector union base.

Biden's been smeared as cognitively incapacitated for so many months now that all he'll have to do to look like a convincing candidate is not fall off the stage.
The annoying thing with Biden is that he IS going to stumble over some words and such. You know why? Because he has a speech impediment. But that is goign to be used against him.
I say 2 debates and call it a day. One on Fox, one on whatever else and that's it. There literally cannot be any "undecideds" right now.

He's always had a harder time performing well against fellow Democrats than against Republicans. But Trump's no garden variety lying Republican so we'll see if Biden can maintain his composure.
I don't know why people think these debates will be significant for the outcome. They'll be an oddity and a spectacle, but I don't think they stand likely to change anyone's mind in the present circumstances.
