Well on the one hand, the President orders his AG to jail the previous President and his chief political rival, while refusing to commit to the peaceful transition of power.... but on the other hand, Keith Olbermann called Trump a mean name in a tweet...

Great stuff from “Both Sides” Mitt

Who does he thinks listens to him? Haha!

Talk about Mr Irrelevant.

I would say many in Trumps base hate him. Not only because Obama beat him but because he flip flops when it comes to their hero.

Many on the left despise his politics simply because of stuff like this. Once again no backbone and finger pointing.

However I do like the way he coloured his statement picture to mesh perfectly with the GOT dark mode. Looks lovely.

Something that's blown my mind a bit which I've only come to realise following this election is how much of a pain in the arse it is and how far many people have to travel to vote in the US, and what's more, is how deliberate this seems to be. The impression I get is of voting in some third-world banana republic. It's ridiculous.

Here, I've never even so much as queued to cast a vote.

Election time here in NZ, just voted last weekend. Where I live we literally have two venues where we can vote within 500 metres of my house. No queues to vote at all, was such an easy process. Why is it made so difficult for Americans to vote? Is it just a lack of voting places?

There are +/- 50 early voting locations to vote in person in the county where I live. Sounds quite a few, eh? Well, the county is more than 1200 square miles in size and there are 1.2 million registered voters in the county. My state does not allow no-excuse voting by mail. Due to our ancient agrarian tradition, election day is on a Tuesday. Not a weekend. Not a national holiday. A day in the middle of the modern working week. Yes, there will be many additional voting sites but on election day you must vote at your specific precinct and there's no exception so if you did not vote early and your employer insists you stay late and you miss getting in line by time of poll closing - you are out of luck.

Every bit of this is designed to suppress the vote, which is to the advantage of the GOP. There's simply no good reason why Americans cannot vote by mail or via secure computer system.

Thanks for the explanation. We're so lucky down here. Electioneering is by and large quite mundane compared to the States - no over-the-top political rallies, certainly none that you'd notice if you weren't looking for them and went about your day-to-day life.

A bit of mudslinging between rivals, but again, nothing compared to the vitriol in America.

Have said it before, but having lived all over the U.K., it’s never taken me more than ~5mins to cast my vote (and ALL our voting is done on one day, on a non-holiday weekday, just like US)

If (and please god let it happen) the Democrats win WH, Senate and Congress in 3 weeks time, new voting rights/voting access act should be the first bill on Biden’s desk. Ram it through so fast you make McConnell and the rest of them choke on it.

well, you've kinda got to look at it this way, Massachusetts has nearly twice the population of NZ, we have the same voting experience you have.
Now imagine 50 New Zealands, all voting in the same election but each with different voting rules depending on who's in power and you have some idea of how it can get out of hand. Some people will be voting for President, senators, congressmen, governors, state reps, mayors, councilors, state and city treasurers, the list goes on and on, even who is in charge of garbage pick up gets on the ballot in our city, then there's the propositions, If you can get enough signatures, you van get anything on the ballot, so there's also series of mini referendums to answer as well.
All this has to be joined up at the local, state, and federal level. That makes the whole thing prone to political road blocks.
The republicans tend to be more fond of throwing up these road blocks as they know their demographic is shrinking and winning clean is not an option in a lot of places.
