There are +/- 50 early voting locations to vote in person in the county where I live. Sounds quite a few, eh? Well, the county is more than 1200 square miles in size and there are 1.2 million registered voters in the county. My state does not allow no-excuse voting by mail. Due to our ancient agrarian tradition, election day is on a Tuesday. Not a weekend. Not a national holiday. A day in the middle of the modern working week. Yes, there will be many additional voting sites but on election day you must vote at your specific precinct and there's no exception so if you did not vote early and your employer insists you stay late and you miss getting in line by time of poll closing - you are out of luck.
Every bit of this is designed to suppress the vote, which is to the advantage of the GOP. There's simply no good reason why Americans cannot vote by mail or via secure computer system.
