Whatever your politics voting hopefully we agree that exercising your constitutional right to vote should not take hours

Something that's blown my mind a bit which I've only come to realise following this election is how much of a pain in the arse it is and how far many people have to travel to vote in the US, and what's more, is how deliberate this seems to be. The impression I get is of voting in some third-world banana republic. It's ridiculous.

Here, I've never even so much as queued to cast a vote.

yea, I've never waited to vote in Massachusetts.
If you're waiting that long to vote it's because someone doesn't want you to vote.
What gets me is how there isn't outrage at this voter suppression. It's almost accepted.
There's almost a sense of pride in being able to vote after hours of waiting.
Both sides should be furious about this.

I’ve waited to vote in the past here in Maryland. Though, to be honest, it has significantly improved over the years as early voting has been expanded

I've been to the polls in an all white county in MD and never waited and also in a more diverse area (but by know means majority minority) and had it take a bit longer. I'm registered in Baltimore City now so I'd like to see what it would be like but I'm doing mail-in this time. My guess is it would hold the standard pattern even in a state that isn't actively suppressing the vote as it has in Texas and Georgia because that's America.

Can any of the US posters on here explain this:

I cannot understand what the excitement is actually about but it cites Biden as being heavily involved.

got about a minute in before the frantic editing combined with the vomit of scrolling info gave me a headache.
if there's anything in it, it'll hit more bearable news sources soon.
I doubt it will tho.

Just a weird coincidence that the largest county votes for Democrats

In 2018 for the Virginia elections I waited in line for 3 hours. And that wasn't even to cast a vote directly against Trump. Whatever the wait this year, I'll do it. We start early voting here October 19th with 3 satellite locations opening then. I'll vote on the 20th.
