The 2 years since Martinez left.

Oh I see, the stats dont back up the argument you wish to make? 8 away wins / 5 away wins / 6 away wins.

Go and compare that sequence with any other three season one in the last 20 years.

I am talking about the league here. 5 from 19 in 2015/16.

5 away wins is not a good return. Our away form has been poor in the last 20+ years so comparing it to other failed away records doesn't make it any better in my mind, other than this past year which has been an absolute disgrace.

It's a myth that we were 'good' away under Martinez.

Sorry mate, but that typo aside I have just destroyed this away win business.

Hi mate

Our average away wins per season in that 25 year period has been 4.76. Ergo: in every season Martinez was here we over performed against that average.

Cheers mate.

Just to confirm:

He did this with no material difference in spending ability. He simply stock-piled cash for Lukaku confirmed pre-Lukaku-

Martínez admits he will be spending a significant amount this summer, by Everton standards. He said: "We've got money but I didn't want to spend it in January. The cash has been here before but in the past they have spent £10m in one window, £6m in another window. What we have done is bring in loan players, short-term players, and used the young players to accumulate money. It is about spending it a little bit at a time or all at once. I prefer to stockpile for the summer. Having to sell players, reduce the wage bill and keep money from other areas to make a big pot is what I've been aiming for over the last 10 months."

I see we have a horrible away record in the premier league era. I certainly see nothing to boast about from Martinez's perspective.

Absolutely no problem you wading in HK but do me the pleasure of answering the question:

Yes or no?

Yes- you believe they would have been of a greater quality given they would cost more (the general equation when signing players)

No- you believe, armed with an arsenal of 200m he would have bought Alcaraz, Kone, Cleverley et al.

What will it be good sir / lady?

No because I do not trust Martinez with the money and as I said Steve Walsh is around as the director of football so the outcome would be more or less the same. If Walsh does not hold accountable, I do not understand how this dof role actually works. He is supposed to buy the players and let the manager to utilise them. Furthermore, there is nothing to suggest Martinez can spot some player other than the already famous Lukaku.

...as opposed to the drunken sailor spending on utter rubbish under Koeman.

I want to see cash spent at Everton, but that feller spent it and took us over a cliff because he just wasn't interested in a patient development of the squad which used big cash signings on players who were unquestionably quality and could boost our development. He spent it all on players clearly overvalued and in enough volume to make development worthless as a strategy.

I loathe that man. He is quite simply the most irresponsible manager (and one of the worst) we've ever had. He's damaged us for years, and that carpet bagger is as culpable for employing and indulging him.

So what did martinez actually WIN during his tenure? 72 points count as sweet FA. A small footnote in our history unlike real legends. Ffs it was better watching the screaming skull's teams late 70s. End of argument..there never was one anyway.

Semi final medals.

The last Everton Manager to be given the so called "3 years to get it right" timescale.
Since then we have-
lost both visits to Burnley,
both visits to Southampton,
both visits to Bournemouth,
both visits to Watford,
won neither trips to relegation haunted Swansea, failed to win this season at woeful West Brom failed to win last season at relegated Middlesbrough or terrible West Ham and have not beaten a top 7 side home or away this season in 14 attempts.
Clearly keep sacking managers isn't the answer and maybe with hindsight Martinez should have been given Moshiris' millions to get it right.

Good stats, for me no to El Fraud. OK ,he had Barkley and Lukaku on song, but we were sinking, like Wigan. He did have an eye for a signing, and did well with Lukaku. But FM, Alcaraz, McCarthy, Kone, and the fella that went to Watford who's name escapes me right now shows that's not much of hit-rate. I thought Robles could have established himself though.Every time I think McCarthy is gonna come good he's injured : (

So right now we're in Spurs mode who also went through managers whilst looking for the right formula and manager. Hopefully we'll not be playing catch-up by the time the new stadium's built.

Interesting point though - and highlights again the waste of last summer in our development..
