Exactly, because if that were the case by that logic @davek is the biggest Koppite of all time!

I dont agree with what the OP is saying, because I never believed we would go down, but i also believe he was brought in to make sure while somebody better was sorted out. Could he have been kept on had he genuinely turned things around? I reckon so, but he hasnt really doen that insofar as our football is still awful. And before people say it is because of our awful players, does anybody genuinely think the likes of Palace, Swansea, Bournemouth etc. have markedly better players than us? Yet they largely pkay better football? On that basis, Sam has been a monumental flop!
Maybe you should read what I attually wrote but saying you disagree with my post

As a life long Evertonian, with fond memories (though distant) of being the big time, and wanting to see our club challenge for honours once again, I am totally blown away by people wanting Sam to remain. Do you not want to see us challenge, play good football, dominate teams, play for a win? Are you happy with long ball hoofs, pedestrian passing, playing for draws at home to bottom of the league sides, subbing attacking midfielders for defenders while at 1-1 to Swansea??

I want a manager who is going to try new things not aim for 40 points each year then sit back and revel in their "glory".

Sad, sad times indeed.

Got to remember that some fans have only experienced this. If you are say 30 and below then this is exactly what we have been doing for the vast majority of that supporters time following us.

Everton fans for sure. I'm a very staunch everton fan and I strongly feel Sam should be given at least another season to show what he can do.

I do feel like I'm in the minority but that's because a lot of others who feel the same as me get showered with abuse for having an opinion. I honestly think there are a large number of supporters who also agree Sam should be given a chance to at least see out his contract.

The way I see it is that he has us in the top half in the table and a good chance of finishing 8th. When he took over we were getting beaten easily and by some poor teams too and were seriously looking in trouble of relegation. He has steadied the ship and with a couple of more signings he can push us on.

The football we are currently playing is a necessity to get results given the quality of players at our disposal. If you disagree just look at the kind of results we got before Sam took over when the team played with more freedom. He knows what we need to move forward next season but unfortunately because most it seems want him out we will have to start again with a 'fonseca' type. Who easily could be the next Pellgrino of Southampton and see us struggle.

But no let's try with the untested and start all over again and sack Sam while Sams in prime position to know exactly what we need to move forward.

Ok sure.

Look at the games each manager has played. Koeman got 8 points from 9 but 6 of those games were teams in the top 7 which he got one point from. Unsy got 7 in 5 but played none of top 7. Allardyce 27 from 20, with 3 points from top 7 (however from the same 6 that Koeman played, he has only got 1 as well).

Remove the top 7 and their records are much different as Koeman looks much better. Koeman got 7 points from 3. Unsy got 7 points from 5. Allardyce got 24 from 12. Koemans record despite being shorter is the best there.

We were never getting relegated. He hasn’t steadied the ship. Koeman should have been given longer because if Allardyce had played those first 9 games he wouldn’t have got any more points than Koeman got. And his record and results show that from the corresponding matches. In fact, he lost to Bournemouth who Koeman beat.

Yeah you absolutely [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed] grade A [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed] of a [Poor language removed] div!

This is actually as spot on as you can get and one of the most intelligent comments I've seen on the forum for a long time. Unfortunately a witch hunt started against Sam from almost day one, it got worse following some bad form after his good start and it's at a point now of nearly no return for most fans.

Strangely I actually think he would have had more of a chance keeping his job if he got worse results but managed to keep us up on the last day of the season. He's been a victim of his one success because he got us out of danger so early and was expected to make this poor team into top 6 challengers instantly.

You can see by responses on these forums for anyone showing any kind of loyalty to Sam that they get shot down almost instantly. Why? Because we are supporting a manager who has taken us from a very bad place (both in league position and performances) to a very steady place and in a position to kick on next season.

Most neutrals would say Sam has done well since coming in. Not amazingly but certainly at least met expectations and therefore deserves a chance to see out his contract. Most evertonians think he has done terribly and needs getting rid of asap. It makes no sense to me.
Most neutrals don't give a flying one about Everton so their opinions on here don't intetest me. Anybody coming on here saying tbings like "deary me" I'm afraid I just can't take seriously.

If you asked all these neutrals would they be happy if Allardyce was manager of their club I suspect the vast majority would say no.

I disagree with most everything you say but, as a blue you should be able to voice an opinion on an internet forum without having to suffer verbal abuse. But when you do hold a minority opinion you have to accept that most people on here will disagree with you, and some will genuinely believe you are just wumming.

We really could have.

Unlikely as there was always 3 worse teams but my god we were terrible.

Still are actually...

I mean, mathematically, Southampton could still catch us. But really, the awful teams in this league, it wasn’t going to happen. Complete knee jerk reaction and half down to performing rubbish in Europe because we had a horrible run of games at the start of the league.

Man City have walked all over almost everyone this season. Being beaten by Spurs, Arsenal and Man United... well... so are a lot of teams.

January transfers can often take a bit of time to settle in, to be honest I was surprised you got Tosun, as he was still in the CL, and was scoring goals in the group stages, you've got a CL calibre player there who will probably get better next season. You look at Sanchez at Man United, even he has struggled since he moved. Theo Walcott seemed to start quite brightly for you, but I haven't seen Everton play recently. So could be 2 very shrewd signings for next year.

If Big Sam stays (big if), I think you will get better next season if he is given support, I honestly do, I just remember earlier on in the season watching you guys play in the Europa Cup, and I think it was the game against Southampton on sky where you got thrashed and I thought to myself "deary me, this is not a cohesive football team, they could be in serious trouble here". If it was a one off, you can brush it off, but it was turning into a pattern. It is easy now to say it was never in doubt, that you were never going to get relegated, but you'd lost your main goal threat, you were struggling to create anything, and your defending was all over the place (and that is putting it kindly).

Big Sam has made strides forward in improving your defence, people can dismiss that and say it is because he has been ultra cautious, but then why didn't Unsworth do that? If he had, he'd still probably be in a job and not Big Sam.

I know what it is like when you've already made up your mind that someone is crap, almost nothing will change your mind, but he's not that bad, and with a bit of time he has actually got a good record out of getting the best out of good attacking players. I mean he is a pragmatist, like Mourinho, and he believes that everything should start from a solid defensive foundation, but with a bit of time and a pre-season, he will improve next season (IMO).

It a well balanced argument and your entitled to your opinion! But sadly your wrong, I think we had enough to not be relegated and I do believe it would have happened with or without Sam!

But for me it goes deeper than results on the pitch, it's his whole demeanour, his words after match and generally what He sees as success comparing us with West Brom was a joke!

I don't kid myself where we are, I know the level we are at now!! But this is the most crucial part for me, what he constitutes for success im sorry its just not good enough!! Why shouldn't we as a club strive for the best I love this club whole heartedly and I want us to push, I want ambition!

He's not the answer he's a percentage playing journeyman and for me he should never have been hired never mind kept on! He's not what I want for the football club I love! It may be easier for someone who's neutral but for me I'm clouded by the fact that I want only the best for this club and he is not it and never will be!

Yes but they are full backs.
Baines is a better defender than Martina plus he has the advantage of being able to kick the bally thing with his left foot
Coleman is s better defender than Kenny
So they improved the team defensively
As you pointed out they also improved the team in an attacking sense as well

You could also say Coleman has been responsible for 2 goals recently. Of course Baines is better than Martina, its his position! Though defensively hmmm...maybe.

Funnily enough Allardyce's best run came without them in the side...

It is pointless putting in provisos when discussing records really though. The taking out the top 7 teams thing above is a bit weird.

He will be gone in the summer anyway! I don't know why people are getting so worked up. Everything will be fine.

@roydo: I didn't realise it's against the rules to write "[Poor language removed]" in a humourous way, i.e. not write any banned words at all. Is that not the case? Seems a bit of a silly thing to get a warning for! :(
