Talksport and Fake Everton fans

This is actually as spot on as you can get and one of the most intelligent comments I've seen on the forum for a long time. Unfortunately a witch hunt started against Sam from almost day one, it got worse following some bad form after his good start and it's at a point now of nearly no return for most fans.

Strangely I actually think he would have had more of a chance keeping his job if he got worse results but managed to keep us up on the last day of the season. He's been a victim of his one success because he got us out of danger so early and was expected to make this poor team into top 6 challengers instantly.

You can see by responses on these forums for anyone showing any kind of loyalty to Sam that they get shot down almost instantly. Why? Because we are supporting a manager who has taken us from a very bad place (both in league position and performances) to a very steady place and in a position to kick on next season.

Most neutrals would say Sam has done well since coming in. Not amazingly but certainly at least met expectations and therefore deserves a chance to see out his contract. Most evertonians think he has done terribly and needs getting rid of asap. It makes no sense to me.

lol

The Friends of Sam are getting more hilarious by the day :pint2:

As a life long Evertonian, with fond memories (though distant) of being the big time, and wanting to see our club challenge for honours once again, I am totally blown away by people wanting Sam to remain. Do you not want to see us challenge, play good football, dominate teams, play for a win? Are you happy with long ball hoofs, pedestrian passing, playing for draws at home to bottom of the league sides, subbing attacking midfielders for defenders while at 1-1 to Swansea??

I want a manager who is going to try new things not aim for 40 points each year then sit back and revel in their "glory".

Sad, sad times indeed.

While I agree it’s ok for people to want him here I also believe he’s not the man for Everton. Unless we have no ambition whatsoever. Can anyone, either those who want him here, or those who don’t, imagine Man City or United wanting him.
These are the prem elite right now and these are the targets we should be setting, we won’t get there with Sam.

It's so bad that Burnely could finish sixth just by being an organised unit. Crap as their players are.
They have just simply become the old moyes era Everton. They are now classed as plucky Burnley by the press...whereas were now simply classed as moaners and wannabees
Clear the lot out....this is getting embarassing....
We have completely lost any identity whatsoever...and its horrible.

Are people still peddling the myth he's sorted the defence?

That was spread earlier in the season yet many of us knew he’d sorted nothing and we were just riding our luck / playing poor sides. There was a collapse around the corner and inevitably it happened. That’s still the case now.

We were conceding 2+ a game before he came in, think it happened 9 games in a row. Allardyce has many flaws, but to say he hasn't improved us defensively from where we were isn't fair.

Goals conceded after the first 14 games (Koeman and Unsworth)

18. Everton = 28
19. Stoke = 29
20. West Ham = 30

Goals conceded since Allardyce has been here (20 games)

8. Everton = 26
18. Watford and Stoke = 35
19. Southampton = 36
20. Bournemouth = 40

Some of our fans let their dislike of him cloud their judgement and make out he's contributed nothing, when he clearly has. I don't understand the point of showing we were 13th when he came in, now 9th as some sort of argument that it means there has been 'no improvement'. Just doesn't make sense.

That said, he needs to go. He has proved all those who doubted him to be correct since January with his negative tactics and playing down expectations for the self preservation of his own 'reputation'. The football has been dire for 90%+ of games and we've been dropping points to teams that were there for the taking.

At the start he was unfortunate that he was without the likes of Coleman, Baines, Bolasie, Tosun, Walcott etc. He's had the benefit of all of them since January and he hasn't got the best out of them. He isn't good enough for this club and should be removed as soon as the season is over.

Is that ignoring that Koeman had the top 6 and Leicester (most away from home) in those first 14 games? Allardyce has had by far an easier run of fixtures and done marginally better. A lighter shade of...

Everton fans for sure. I'm a very staunch everton fan and I strongly feel Sam should be given at least another season to show what he can do.

I do feel like I'm in the minority but that's because a lot of others who feel the same as me get showered with abuse for having an opinion. I honestly think there are a large number of supporters who also agree Sam should be given a chance to at least see out his contract.

The way I see it is that he has us in the top half in the table and a good chance of finishing 8th. When he took over we were getting beaten easily and by some poor teams too and were seriously looking in trouble of relegation. He has steadied the ship and with a couple of more signings he can push us on.

The football we are currently playing is a necessity to get results given the quality of players at our disposal. If you disagree just look at the kind of results we got before Sam took over when the team played with more freedom. He knows what we need to move forward next season but unfortunately because most it seems want him out we will have to start again with a 'fonseca' type. Who easily could be the next Pellgrino of Southampton and see us struggle.

But no let's try with the untested and start all over again and sack Sam while Sams in prime position to know exactly what we need to move forward.

You're in the minority for an obvious reasons tbf.

Most people prefer not to let a man who we know plays horrific football, and we know cannot bring success, manage another game nevermind another full season.

That stats wrong.....

Everton Goal conceded before Coleman and Bains where back 28 afterward 26, nowt to do with Sam

Just because they have a different opinion doesn’t make them a fake fan.
Exactly, because if that were the case by that logic @davek is the biggest Koppite of all time!

I dont agree with what the OP is saying, because I never believed we would go down, but i also believe he was brought in to make sure while somebody better was sorted out. Could he have been kept on had he genuinely turned things around? I reckon so, but he hasnt really doen that insofar as our football is still awful. And before people say it is because of our awful players, does anybody genuinely think the likes of Palace, Swansea, Bournemouth etc. have markedly better players than us? Yet they largely pkay better football? On that basis, Sam has been a monumental flop!

Coleman and Baines coming back explains that
