Was a quality player, but never hit it off with Tim Cahill.

In fact it was probably the worst strike partnership of the Moyes era.

Both wanted to stay central and not work the channels or run in behind. Result.. very little goal threat.

Maybe Saha is more of a teddy sheringham type player. Decent, but needs someone pacy and hard working alongside.

As a squad filler on the right wages I see it as a no brainer really.

His experience will help the kids and I think he can still do a job. Trouble was for us he was our main man and I dont think hes that anymore.

Basically this.

He was being asked to play every game, leading the line in a physical role, chasing things and generally having [Poor language removed] all support. He's one of the most injury prone players in PL history and he's old now, so it was never going to work.

He does have bags of talent though, and to rehash the cliché, on his day he was unplayable. You won't get those days too often but for experience to have around the club and as an off the bench kind of striker, it's not a bad signing at all. He did okay at Spurs.

Paxton, if I told you I feel desperately sorry for Sunderland fans, would you understand what I meant by it? If O'Neill plans to use him as a first choice striker, you're in for a ride of emotions, mostly negative.

You'd better hope it's in a 4-4-2 not 4-5-1 formation. He can bang a few in but he'll get a strop on if others aren't doing the shift work for him.

Ferdinand heaped praise on the Everton forward during a Q&A with fans on Twitter.

He said: "Who is the most difficult player you have ever marked in a football game #RioQ+A » louis Saha in training!

Moyes has insisted that Saha is a great talent and a pleasure to work with before he signed for Tottenham in January.

“Arguably [he is] probably the best player I have ever worked with, Louis Saha. [He’s] the best talent I’ve ever had,â€￾ he said.

“Probably Wayne [Rooney] would be the one who comes close and I’ve got to say Thomas Gravesen would be close to that as well but Louis Saha was right up there.

Heres a few things you need to understand about Louis Saha,

1 - NOT a box player, prefers to waddle outside of the penalty area.

2 -- 1 tap and he's injured

3 -- MASSIVE confidence player....head goes down too easily

4 -- Thinks he's KING LOUIS or something, but he was finished with us a long long time before he departed

5 -- Will appear not to try for MANY games and then just as everyone wants him jettissoned he will try + score.

6 -- When its time for a new contract, expect him to bang in a few goals

Quite frankly I agree with one of the above posters who didnt ever take to him and another who called him a fraud....for me he is NOT the person you want coaching kids or advising / mentoring them.....he doesnt seem to have any passion.

Sessegnon or possibly another striker that we get in.

Up there with the best for one game a season, down there with the worst for the other 10 he's fit to play in.

More then likely he will be brought off the bench as an impact sub.

He seems to score a few when with a new club after that it really depends who he's paired with,as others have mentioned he doesn't suit a lone striker role.So Fletcher along side might work.who knows, even free agents are a gamble
