Jackson would be a much better option for us if he was available imo. Would almost definitely want European football though.Given that Iraola is being linked with the job there I could see a move for Delap as Iraola will want someone a bit more mobile imo, I could even see him getting a tune out of Jackson. Whoever we bring in we simply must increase the supply line to them otherwise it's a pointless waste of time.
He'll be on mega-wages and he's at least a foot too short for Moyes anyway.Jackson would be a much better option for us if he was available imo. Would almost definitely want European football though.
Agree whoever the striker is we crucially need to be creating far more chances and being generally less predictable on the ball. Two quality full backs need to come in first and foremost, if we can't sort out those positions everything else will be a waste of time.
Whose making this point though - i didn't?
I said the administration and manager aren't aligned in terms of recruitment - that's played out in what i posted above in terms of the players we have signed and their lack of mins and influence on games and results - the point im making is the tranfer strategy of the club and what the manager feels he needs now are evidently two different things and its led to waste.
Im not particularly bothered if its Moyes calling the shots or the committee and i doubt its that black and white - but i want whatever players we sign to have an influence on games and results and that's clearly not been the case with most of who we invested in last summer and we aren't a club who can afford to do that IMO.
That alignment needs sorting, before we do the same again heading into a new window.
While I’m not really portioning blame at the transfer committee or the manager - whatever has gone on - both clearly aren’t aligned.
He's on 100kpw at Chelsea, I would defo pay that tbf. Thought it would be more if anything. Genuinely not sure you can get a quality centre forward these days without paying pretty mad wages. He'll be on mega-wages and he's at least a foot too short for Moyes anyway.
All three a foot too short, apparently.![]()

I thought it would be more than that too, tbf. Definitely not a Moyes player, however. He'll sign Delap and by this stage next season he'll likely be getting grief on here! He's on 100kpw at Chelsea, I would defo pay that tbf. Thought it would be more if anything. You're right about Moyes though. He will be prioritising physical profile for that position, and probably the rest of the signings we make as well if his words after the game last weekend are anything to go by.
KDH and Ndiaye offer significant threat behind the striker, I would much rather see us go for someone who can actually play a bit and create goals for others as well as obviously being able to finish.
He’s also contracted till 2031 iirc so that’s a guaranteed £26m he’ll be expecting over his next contract wherever he goes. He's on 100kpw at Chelsea, I would defo pay that tbf. Probably a sheikh’s ransom. What are Chelsea paying him ?
I can see him heading Saudi/Turkey ( Or are Saudi now gradually pulling away from the big cash grabs )
Because it's pretty common practise. TFG wanted to give Moyes an 18 month deal and Moyes insisted on 2 and half. It would be the same as when we gave Big Sam an 18 month deal when everyone in the country knew he would be gone by the summer. Why would they have thought this.
If he has had anyone watching delap, he won't go near him, he's an Ipswich player and that's were he will end up if they get promoted. If Moyes is here in summer we will defo be signing Delap.
Pulled out all the stops last summer before he chose Chelsea and he won't have changed his mind about him after this season.
Would love to be wrong, just seems extremely likely to me if Chelsea are getting rid.
Because you are doing this;
By creating an illusion of doubt, you are.
Moyes is part of, and the main part of "the transfer committee". This isnt a head coach scenario. Only the club owner who actually pays the money will have a bigger say than the manager.
Under Ancelotti, we had players coming in because of Marcel Brands - Godrey, Doucoure - players the manager admitted he hadnt heard of.
We don't have that/a DOF anymore - Moyes decides who comes in, Moyes decides who plays. There's your alignment.
He gets the plaudits, and the criticism. Not the guy with the spreadsheet who is suggesting a player.
If you want to do that, lets not credit Moyes ever with any signing, because there would be scouting/recruitment input on every transfer he's ever made.
If you want to defend Moyes and criticise background recruitment staff, the valid argument would be they never got the players at the top of his list - like Liam Delap.
