Summer transfer window.

Because they are prepared to take a risk that's why. We still shop in the Top 5 Euro leagues, anyone half decent isn't going to come to us without Euroball and at a price. I know Tiago wasn't cheap but he came from Belgian football, we need to be looking at the likes of there, Portugal, Scandinavia. Our best bet going forward (imo) is a few experienced pro's Pickford, KDH, Tarkowski etc, then a bunch of 21-24 year olds where they have some game experience and something to offer straight away, less of the Diblings and Aznous. Id rather no more under 21's unless they are good enough to start. If we want to sign players like that sign them for the youth team imo.
Exactly. Club Brugge was one of the best teams in Europe last season and Brentford took a punt on their free-scoring striker and it paid off handsomly.

Bodo/Glimt is one of the most impressive sides this season.

When you're demolishing Sporting Lisbon, seeing off Manchester City at home then going to Atletico Madrid and beating them too, and then comfortably dispatching Inter Milan in the knockout phase... it's no longer a decent run of form, it's a team displaying it's true quality.

A few of their players will get snapped up in the summer and we'll once again be lashing £30 million on further useless gets.

I don't think £35m is a "punt" and they signed him 2 years ago.

Definitely not a punt - also am told (source is gonna remain as "trust me bro" for this, sorry lads) that they'd had him on their radar and had scouts sent to Bulgaria from before Brugge, along with other teams in England.
incidentally Brentford's moneyball owner said that Beto missing a lot of chances shows he is getting into the right positions.
and that Beto should be of higher estimation than his goal statistics suggest.

everyone can see the data but its how u interpret and use it.
and brentford have signed so many good strikers over the years.

We need another summer like last with the signing of 7-8 players.
We need rid of and replacements for McNeil Beto Barry Patterson before we even start adding numbers.

We have a lot of positions to cement in the 11. If were replacing players we need to do so either with starters or high potential u21s.

We cant sign backups.

Yup he has had an odd career tbh, started in Brazils Serie B then to Bulgaria, then to Belgium, then to Brentford.

Maybe he'd sign for Beverton?

We don't have the money imo, he cost them £35m, you can expect that to be doubled and we are not paying that on a single player. We would be better off actually taking a risk with someone like Troy Parrott imo rather than the woeful Delap who seems to be the only striker linked at the moment which is more than concerning.

Beattie, Johnson & Yakubu were all signed by Moyes I think?

I would expect this or next summer he spends big on a centre forward.

With Delap, I think he'd actually be ideal if we did shift both Barry & Beto. However, id sign him on loan for a season only and use the incoming funds + more on a striker.

Don't see KDH in a midfield 2, we'd get overrun. I see him as an LCM in a 3 with Garner and Armstrong.

Delap is not making any friends at Chelsea, poor attitude by all accounts and clearly a poor record, not keen myself, red flags all over the shop with him. Even if we do spend big, we still are not spending £60/70m which is what Tiago is going to cost sadly.
