Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I like the links to Ben doak because he is just a right winger, something we have been looking for a number of seasons. Fed up of signing players that are essentially left wingers that can play on the right but really cant...
We were linked to him a month ago as well. If you watch Doak, he often goes on the outside and crosses right footed despite being a lefty. He's played on the right literally every time I've ever seen him play. Nowadays it's far more common for players to play on the opposite side to their strong foot because rather than hitting the byline and throwing crosses in, modern wide players are asked to cut inside onto their stronger foot and contribute infield.

That works particularly well if you have overlapping wing backs

Just dont see it happening...

Theres too many teams in for him, im just not sure we'd be able to compete.

Hope im pleasantly surprised.
It seems as though it will come down to him making a choice between a bit part role at a club playing in Europe, or being the figurehead of a new era for Everton. Wages will be pretty uniform wherever he ends up.

His choice will be very telling as to his character.

What? Why? He is nothing like DCL - he holds the ball up well, but his main strength is progressive runs with the ball. He's competitive and strong but he's not the sort of player you can knock a long ball to and ask him to win headers all game.
Thats good to hear and I hope you are right, just like my Hope sometimes my Fears are unfounded and need to be reigned in😅

TBF I wouldn't blame a player for backing themselves and thinking that he's good enough to go and start at Chelsea or wherever. Objectively he must know that he has a better chance of playing every week here, but it's not really fair to question his character of he picked Chelsea (for example) if he really believes he can go and start there

Behind the 8 ball or black ball means we are in a difficult position but not impossible!
The term comes from pocket billiards or pool, where in certain games if the number eight ball is between the “cue ball” and “object ball” the player cannot make a straight shot.
I know, it’s just a joke because of his Scottish accent and we have a pub called the Black Bull in Walton.

and lets be honest. If they’re selling the club to him they’re hardly going to be telling him he’s only being brought in to be back up to Nico Jackson

exciting this

even if we don’t pull them off its good to know we’re looking at young, positive british talent at these kinds of prices

will all end in tears when we end up with soucek, dcl new contract and Harrison on a permanent like

but for now it feels positive

front four of NDiaye, Alcaraz, Doak and Delap feels very vibrant

throw in Angel Gomes, some unknown but mobile and attack minded left back from ligue one and we have a promising looking side

Dunno about Doak. Tidy championship player but he’s properly tiny. We had Bernard who was a similar profile and quickly got fed up of him getting shrugged off it.

Doak has looked talented when I’ve seen him but Jack Clarke was superb at Sunderland and anonymous this year in the prem for Ipswich. I’d be very careful about championship players.
There is talent in the championship. Eze, Wharton and Olise examples. It’s about finding the right ones.
