Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Dunno about Doak. Tidy championship player but he’s properly tiny. We had Bernard who was a similar profile and quickly got fed up of him getting shrugged off it.

Doak has looked talented when I’ve seen him but Jack Clarke was superb at Sunderland and anonymous this year in the prem for Ipswich. I’d be very careful about championship players.

Was it defo the ‘black ball’ and not the ‘black bull’? Nothing like taking a player to Walton Vale to get him excited
Behind the 8 ball or black ball means we are in a difficult position but not impossible!
The term comes from pocket billiards or pool, where in certain games if the number eight ball is between the “cue ball” and “object ball” the player cannot make a straight shot.

Really we are looking for players to add to the nucleus of the side which is Pickford, Branthwaite, Tarks, OBrien, Mykolenko and Ndiaye.

People will question Mykolenko, but for 2 seasons we’ve had one of the best defences in the league so his position is not a priority to make a change in.

Alcaraz, Gana, Garner, McNeill and Beto all worth keeping as potential starters or strong bench options.

Reckon we need 5 decent quality signings to seriously push on and give us more strength in the starting XI and a stronger bench.

RB is a priority as is a striker, a wide right option, a CM if we are not keeping Mangala.

Interesting to see if Armstrong starts to get a chance.

I think Delap being from a football family massively works in our favour too

All players weigh up a) money b) size of the club and c) what’s best for their career; but you’d think someone who’s dad was a player would take C into account more than the average

Saw the same with Bellingham going to Dortmund over Chelsea/Utd etc (although his dad didn’t play at a high level)
Bellingham is a good shout. If he had joined united/chelsea instead of dortmund, convinced that he wouldn't be playing for real madrid now. The young players needs to be playing regular football for their development

He gets to play every week at Everton , more or less guaranteed.

You would imagine that if he can be persuaded to sign that he will want a reasonable release clause as he did it Ipswich ( say £50 million ).

I genuinely think it would be a smart move for him to progress his career and development but I very much doubt that he will choose us but you never know.
That was a relegation release clause...

Sick of this "if he comes to Everton he gets to play every week" Where did this come from? He didnt even play every week for Ipswich.
He plays if he is good enough and scores goals. Same as at Chelsea, Utd, Newcastle.
We need more than one option which has been the case for too long. Moyes knows this and did it with Beto for couple of games, put him back in and he started scoring again.
My fear with Delap is we would go back to playing the way we did with DCL, lump it fwd at the earliest opportunity.
Having said that I would have him all day for 30m and let him battle it out with Beto. Would be 2 good very different options for next season.

They certainly will. Literally in the top 3 or 4 priorities IMO

We have had a decent defence, but we also have struggled hugely to create anything and he's a major part of that problem. A left back who can contribute when we have the ball is a must.

What? Why? He is nothing like DCL - he holds the ball up well, but his main strength is progressive runs with the ball. He's competitive and strong but he's not the sort of player you can knock a long ball to and ask him to win headers all game.
